I just bought a 2 month old Sterling Europa 470 with a Truma S motor mover that I can't get to work.  Before I contact the dealer or Truma I would like to make sure I'm not just being a complete dumb blonde.  So here goes - I turn the mover key to the on position and switch on the remote control and all I get is a few clicking sounds coming from the vacinity of the battery.  Should something else be switched on?   The battery reading on the control panel in the caravan says the battery is fine so where am I going wrong?  There is only one battery I presume?

Hello Oranges, we had a mover fitted on Thursday and with ours you have to use the brace that you wind the steadies down with to engage the mover onto the caravan wheels before it will work . Then you remove the key from the box or your battery will drain. I am sure somebody more in the know will offer another reply.

Best of luck Sue

Try a new battery in the remote or connecting up the remote cable if it has one.  It probably is something simple hopefully.

My father had a similar fault on his van recently.
If you are hearing the clicks then the control box fitted inside the caravan is trying to "set itself up" in readiness to move the caravan. During the set up process the control box conducts a self test and if it detects an anomoly the control box shuts itself down.
The box checks for the following (as well as a few other things!):
That at least one motor is present at the output.
That the caravan battery voltage is above a preset level.
That there are no short circuits / over currents on any of the outputs.
If you can find the location of the box there is a tell tale LED that gives an indication what is wrong. It pulses a varying pattern for different fault conditions. On newer models this LED is visible without taking off the cover. On the older versions you may have to take off the cover to see what is going on. Only remove covers if you are competent to play with electricity, even though it is only 12V the current output from the battery will give you a big scare if you short the battery supply across.
If the VAN is only two months old and the mover was fitted new you should still have warranty with Truma so give them a call.
PS A new box from Truma is around £140.

If you have some jump leads, connect your car battery across the caravan battery and see if that starts it working. This will show if it's the battery at the heart of the problem

Thanks everyone.  I phoned the dealership that the van came from (brand new 2 months ago) and they were worse than useless.  Told me the motor must have blown and that the warranty would be invalid as the van and mover had changed ownership!    Then I phoned Truma who were extremely helpful and are going to sort it out because, as I suspected, changing ownership does not affect the warranty.
