just bought a bailey ranger 550/6, I know it's bigger, but really pleased so far with it.

 thanks for your help  but still not sure  what iiam doing if the mtplm is1179kg and my car s 85 % is 1154 kg dose this mean that the van wieghs to much

I am no expert - but as far as I know, the max weight that your van can be ie ladened up with clothes, food chairs usual rubbisg etc is = 1197kg.

bearing in mind the 85% rule - you could tow up to 1154kg, so you are slightly over the 85% rule, If you towed, you would be at 88% ish. I would just say ensure that you put heavy things in the car, and don't over laden the van - be economical with the things you store in it, and of course stick to the speed limits!

The 85% of kerb weight is advisory.  You can legally tow with your vehicle up to the full 1300 kg.  However, you cannot allow your loaded van to exceed its MTPLM of 1179 kg.

Exceeding the 85% rule is advisory, depending upon towing experience.  Those new to towing caravans are advised to observe the 85% rule, but I think the difference between 1154 kg and 1179 kg can be safely ignored.

What is important, in loading car and van, is that you must not eceed your vehicle specifications for:  (1) Maximum trailer weight.  (2) Nose weight.  (3) Individual axle weights.  (4) Total weight of loaded vehicle  (5) Maximum train weight (this is the weight of the whole oufit, including people).
