i have been given a caravan but not sure it is right for my needs...

i'm looking to get a caravan which caters for four people (two young ones) with beds (not on bunk bed style) odeally with a table which does not need putting away to make a bed every night.

also i'm not looking to tow a monster of a caravan..

so any makes and models would be great info..

budget wise i've not got a lot so options on price if possible would be god too :-)

look forward to hearing from you all professionals :-)

Hi Dubby,

I'm certainly no professional....but I'll have a go to get rid of the blue face icon.

I don't think what you are asking for actually exists because in order to get all the daytime and night-time equipment into a small space, some of that space has to double up and overlap.  If you had a seperate dining space and fixed beds for four, you would have a monster of a caravan.  No doubt someone will come along soon and prove me wrong on this!

The obvious answer is to get an awning, then you can leave the beds up, and set up your table in the awning.  It is popular to use plastuc garden tables and chairs, which are quite cheap, and (more to the point) lightweight to carry in the caravan.  I think that for weekend use, the awning is more hassle than making up the beds, but would be good for a week, of fortnight's holiday.

You can get 5 berth arrangements which have a double bed at each end of the 'van, and usually a bunk above the rear one, or you can get a fixed double bed at the rear, and the front seats long enough to be single beds, but these are relatevely new and quite large and heavy, so will cost a fair bit.

You do not say what caravan you have been given or what car you have, but please be careful, as your caravan when fully laden should not exceed 85% of the Kerbweight of your car.

Good luck, and I hope you find what you need,

thanks for the response buddy, well the caravan i have is a 4 berth monza (spelling useless  lol), and car is an audi a6 estate, so i think that the car can tow a fairly good size caravan.

i can see that getting something like i want may be difficult to get in a medium sized caravan, no harm in asking in case someone know's of such a model..

i'll keep looking around to see what i like, but i think you hit the nail on the head by saying the table would have to come down for space if the awning was not up etc on short stays...

Before we bought the new one, we went to the shows and the local dealers and looked at most of them - and then got real re price! and looked at bailey. it's so difficult when you are finally deciding as sleeping is a main part - but then so is the living part - when you are awake to see it! it's like end bathrooms, really nice, however they can take up a lot of space for a 15 minute in the morning and at night. My advice would be to look at the shows, and then do a "for and against list" - good luck
