I have a Citroen berlingo hdi rated at 1100kg max tow weight.Bought an Adria van and it tows superbly.I cannot understand why vans get heavier when there are more light weight materials available for construction.Not all of us want or can afford to run a big car to tow with so i would like to see vans made to suit  a smaller vehicle.

I'm guessing the increased weight is in all the gadgets and labour saving devices we apparently need.

I, personally, would go for a well built, lightweight, basic van - though my interpretation of basic will not always be the same os another person.

Thats what you get with a Adria Altea.They are VERY well made,reliable and offer comfortable afforable caravaning.I dont need tv,spot lights , ovens etc.Our van is very basic but is still comfy and after four years and two kids looks as god as new.I dont think one of the more flashy vans would have stood up to the abuse.You can tow a  genuine five birth van with a light towcar as we do but there has to be a trade off.Take a look in www.caravanfinder.co.uk and look for a A461 db Adria model.My mate at work has just bought one same as mine as he faced a similar situation with regards to car/van weight.He loves his as i do mine.

Me too.  I would like to see a van built using composites which are light and not affected by water.  I can live without wood cupboards.  It made me laugh when I saw the rotisserie in our little oven.  You would just about fit a pidgeon on it, but it looks good on the feature list.
