Hi, I am Syah from Malaysia (where caravanning is almost non-existent, and no support whatsoever). I am currently looking at a 1994 Elddis Wisp 450EB Supreme to buy. I will be towing it with my 2002 Land Rover Discovery Td5 Auto.

I have no reference whatsoever about this model, and nothing could be found online. The unit seems pristine and almost unused. Does anybody here have the same model and can guide me through the buying process (e.g what to look for, specification, tips)

I have one question about battery charging. I saw a battery in one compartment, but I couldn't find any battery charger or any switch on the main electrical panel that shows that the battery will be charged when shore supply is connected.

I am familiar with boats and boat electrics where the battery is always being charged when the main engine or the generator is on or when shore supply is connected. Is it the same on caravans?

It has an air conditioner and fridge. Are these powered by battery/ towing car/ shore supply? Does anybody have any info on this van? Any info is kindly appreciated as I am a total caravan virgin...

Many thanks!

-------------

Thanks! I have checked out that site. Does anybody have the owner's manual for this model? Or if i can find any on the net in pdf format? I will finalise the purchase today. Price looks steep by UK standards at GBP4000.

Hi Syah!-----to answer your questions-the caravan battery should charge while your driving along provided your car has been wired for it--do you use the British twin plug/socket 12s/12n system or the single 13 pin plug/socket between car & caravan or somthing else?--it should also charge the battery while hooked up to the mains--do you use the blue/white CEE plugs/sockets for your mains hookup-is it 240v or 110v?--has the caravan been in Malaysia since new or was it brought from Britain at some stage of its life?
