Hi we love going away in our caravan all winter long, and you do get some lovely dry crisp days..............we love Floods Ferry Marina near to March in Cambs I just love walking up to the marina the smell of wood or something burning in the fireplaces on the barges is something that I cannot describe...........utter peace and tranquility.
Just about to book there for NY and would def book for Xmas too given half a chance if not for family commitments I couldn't think of a better place to be on Xmas Day...........if only but I can always dream.
Def make the most of your tourer during the winter I can really recommend it.

When we return albeit occasionally to our Secure Storage Compound I am amazed at the number of vans that are going "Green" due to people not using them. 2 weeks a year seems to be the "Norm" for a large number of people, but having spent a considerable amount of money buying it do you really want to leave it to get all nasty inside and out?
No we don't, so for around 9 months of the year we are "Over the hills and far away" (UK or EU) and it's Brilliant.
Last year was Caravan Club site in Scotland over Xmas/New Year with good pantomime in Village Hall.
In a couple of months we will be off on our 3rd European trip this year, courtesy of Tesco Clubcard "Deals Vouchers" & EuroTunnel as my good lady wife suffers with seasickness even across the Channel.
Snow chains are packed, just in case, and ready to go.
Go for it you won't be disappointed.

when you go camping in the winter how do you manage with the van if its slippering with ice and its a hilly region? Just asking because where we would go we have some pretty steep roads to tackle (north yorks area).
i would like just to ask you all how much you pay over the festive and new year period for your pitch because the site where we are members of charge £22.50 p/n with an added £2 extra. I notice they have changed the prices because it was going to work out at £28 p/n and they have also reduced the prices for high season as well
well club house doesnt bother me either cos id rather be inside my van with a few drinks but my OH isnt like me in that respect he likes to be surrounded by others
we went away for new year and we loved it . we also went away the prevouse feb and it was snowing but once you put the heating on in the van you dont even notice it .
a good tip for frozen tanks . we baught a hot water tank jacket cheap from local DIY store and we made a bag from it to put the water carrier in and we bought some pipe lagging to wrap around the water pump pipe and we had no problems with freezing water.
