We are thinking of switching from tent to caravan. Our only requirement is a fixed bunk for the kids (and obviously the main seating area converting to a double bed). All of the vans we have seen so far with fixed bunk beds have been 6 berth, which makes them very long and a bit of a squeeze onto our driveway, as they are 23ft+

Is there a 4 berth caravan (and therefore shorter), with fixed bunk beds? or maybe just a caravan with fixed bunk beds that is shorter than 23ft?

Thanks in advance.

Steve.

The Altea 502 is only 21'10", not bad.

Does the door being on the other side to UK vans pose a problem?

Doesnt really cause me any problems, you occasionally get pedantic site owners that quote mythical rules and regulations. Personally, i just think they like to be awkward. But the vast majority dont care, i usually mention it when i ring up though.

Id like to know an answer to this, my next van will probably be a 4 berth with a rear dinette that converts to bunks because we want rear bunks, but not enough room on the drive for much more than these.

hiya

we got a cristall sprint 390g .... it;s a fantastic 4 berth caravan.   fixed bunks at one end (bottom one lifting up to create a "garage" space)  and dinette that converts to double bed.  Only 19 ft total length and very light van!  Had it 5 years and has been a lovely caravan.

A few years ago, Sprite came back and introduced the Musketeer. This had fixed bunks and was a lovely van.  Haven't a clue what happened to that model, but still see the Major and Alpine range from the company around and about.  From my recollection of them, they were also quite light, really nice van it was.

I remember seeing that at last years GMEX show - Sprite Firebrand 474 with fixed bunks along the side of the caravan, we considered buying one but went for a 5 berth twin dinette instead.

http://www.caravandeals.co.uk/firebrand.asp

I'm not sure if they still make them anymore?

Good luck with your new purchase !!

In the end decided on a Sterling Europa 540.

We will just have to shoe horn it onto the drive!

Thanks for all the replies.

Steve.
