Can you get an awning reduced in size and if you can how much would we be looking to pay for the service. Ours came free when we bought the van but it is a size too big and flaps about when its windy. (which seems to be all the time these days) We try to get it as taut as possible but on really windy days it flaps about like mad.
Yes they can be reduced in size, however, I'd suggest you go to a local caravan dealer & ask them where they get their awnngs repaired locally. Go to the place & seek their advice on the job. They'll know whether the reduction would be too much for the awning or if the job will be OK. They'll also be able to tell you how much it would cost.
A friend of mine went to the dealer to see about getting his awning valued for exchange because it wouldn't fit his new van, the dealer gave him a good part exchange price on his awning against a new one of the right size.

They take a piece out of each side of the roof section or add it in if you wish to have your awning extended. Charge is a little less for having the roof shortened as there is no material to pay for. Would cost around £100-£150 plus carriage. As previous post suggests it might be easier and cheaper to sell it on eBay and buy a correctly fitted one.
if you are a member of the camping and caravan club, in the monthly magazine, there are a few adverts in there for awning re-sizing most have web site as well.....
------------- happy caravaning to you'se all.. richmul
I'm pretty sure that that TentValeting place was where we got our brand new, (one size too big....DON'T ASK!!), Dorema awning reduced when we got it two years ago. Neither hubby or I can remember exactly how much it cost but he seems to think that it was about £80 plus £30 for p&p as they both collected it and returned it to us. We were very pleased with their work and you can't see where they've done the alterations at all! Very impressed we were. I do know that there's a limit on how much they can actually reduce or extend an awning though and methinks that about two and half feet rings a bell but as I've got the memory of a goldfish recently, I could be totally wrong
Of course, if Scrufts can help you out, then you're sorted! How great would that be!
Speaking of which....if anybody's after a Size 7 (800-825cm), green/grey Dorema Madison only used twice...please let me know....darned thing's STILL cluttering up our garage!I've bunged on it the free ads on here twice but no nibbles.
