In my opinion, only worth it if you have to park under trees (keeps green off) otherwise probably more hassle than they are worth.

Hi Dan the Yido

welcome to the website

I personally dont use the normal caravan cover I use fenwicks overwintering

it works great too and in the spring the caravan cleaner has the van gleaming within minutes.

We use a caravan cover if only to stop the flies pooping on the van. We left it for about 2 weeks and when we went up to give it a clean for our holiday it was covered in fly poo. Gave it a good clean and then put the cover on. A week later the van was still pristine. We're still getting the hang of putting the cover on, the last time it took us 20 minutes.

Dan i store my caravan on a farm and have the same problem as you, so last year i bought a caravan cover of ebay for around £90 delivered (18-20 ft  universal)

I put it on in November and took it off in March the caravan was spotless, however in certain areas were the cover had buffetted it had polised the paint and windows, even after a good polishing i can still see the marks, they are only real faint and anybody else wouldnt even bother but i'm a right fussy sod and everytime i look at the caravan i see them.

I've already agreed a sale of my caravan at the end of october and the cover is thrown in, after that i will be buying a brand new caravan, will i be using a caravan cover ????

No i'll try and find a different storage yard and use the fenwicks overwintering, For me the risk would be too great and i would be gutted if my new caravan goy marked.

i always cover my van up for the winter months when I have finished using the van, dont normally bother with it in the summer, although it does stand under a tree and tends to get quite dirty.

I have only just bought my first van but will not be using a cover as I have seen many vans where, when the cover has been removed it moves or tugs on somthing on the roof and water is able to get in or on the side antena.

I will just be cleaning it lots and giving the old fenwicks stuff a go...

Oh welcome to UKCS by the way see its a wealth of information on here

It's the seal around the heater chimney, It happened to me i pulled of the cover when it was wet on my own (no choice) i did use  a pole to lift over the status but it must of dislodged the seal on the heater.

The next night we got to our campsite in north wales and and as usual the heavens opened, after setting up and settling down to tea we noticed that water was flying in through the ceiling.

Spent the next 10 mins stood on a chair getting drenched at the side of the caravan tightening the seal up. Ok now and thankfully we saw it straight away otherwise it could have been parked up for weeks and the ceiling could have fallen in which could have led to 1 **ackered caravan.
