Hiya

Sorry for all the questions today!

We have the hitchlock and wheel clamp, insurance is sorted and first weekend away looming. We are looking to get leg locks for added security. Can anyone tell me cheapest place they may have found to buy them or do they average about £40.00 for a pair?

Thanks again

P

When you fit them, try & put one front & back or get four. I couldn't & still can't get them to fit on the front legs of my Pageant & having them only on the rear was a waste of time for me. It got nicked & recovered with the locks still in place. All the thieving scum had to do was wind the front of the van down to take the weight off the rear legs, rech underneath & turn the threaded bar on the legs to raise them with locks in place.

I have the same situation now but only because the insurance asked for them otherwise I'm wasting my time & therefore have put alternative security on mine to try & keep it.

Thanks all. Hubby managed to get a pair on ebay last night so will put one on front and one on opposite leg at the back until we get another pair. We have the wheel clamp and hitchlock but want to make sure it is extra secure. Maybe we should look into the tracker option although unsure of costs etc.

Hi Basilbrush

I too have a Pageant but when I tried to put locks on front steadies I was worried that they protruded too much, so I put the 2 locks on the rear.

If I bought 2 more front locks would it be illegal to have them protruding from the sides?

Apologies if this is a sill question

I quite agree but if the insurance company demands them they have to have them don't they.

I also had an insurance company approved wheel clamp & an al-Ko hitch lock on my van. They had it off the drive from under the bedroom window.

The wheelclamp was twisted off like a pipecleaner & thrown in the hedge. I suspect a bit of scaffold tube & a pair of stilsons & it was off in seconds.

The hitchlock was snapped off & from what I saw I reckon it was just a pinch bar & a click to get it off.

They must have wound the jockey wheel up to raise the rear feet off the floor so they could wind the legs up on the threaded bar.

Now, I've had my van almost upgraded to series6, I've got the Al-Ko wheel lock, I've had a mover fitted so I can nose it into the drive & hitch it to an RSJ I've concreted in the ground 36 inches in about 350kilos of concrete.

If they get my van again, I'll give up.

It's not a sily question tim, I had two on the front but you have to work really hard to get the grub screws tightened up due to the silly way the front legs are placed. I took mine back for a refund.

You could get the upgrade on the axle so you can have the Al-Ko lock, mine cost me just over £600 fitted & complete with the lock.
