i use a breathable caravan cover, but not pro tec make, I only cover my van during the winter months and have been pleased with way they protect my van, I put it away for the winter nice and clean and thats how it comes out in the spring, it does protect it from bird droppings etc, and tree sap etc, and I reckon it heps protect the paint from light etc. so all in all am pleased with my caravan cover.
that i bought from towsure for about £85.00

Have used a cover made by Specialised Accessories, and it has been really good. Its breathable, and tailored to fit so doesn't flap around causing chafing on windows etc.

Can recommend.

I bought a cover from Towsure as well when the van started leaking around one of the sky lights. Enabled me to keep the van dry until able to repair and then I kept it on to help the van to dry out. I found it invaluable, although mine was £90 for the 14 to 17 foot cover.

hi, we have a pro-tect caravan cover, yes they are a great idea, breathable, it fits perfect to stop chaffing the windows and saves time on washing the van.

I've had a specialised accesories one and a protec one. In my opinion the protec one was nowhere near as strong. It lasted one windy weekend and was wrecked. Not worth the £300. I should have stuck with the Specialised Accesories one. (changed vans). I had used that one for a couple of seasons and no sign of wear.

I've recently changed vans again and you can guess which one I'll be buying if I do.  http://www.carcoversuk.com/specialised-accessories.htm

We have a Pro-Tec, cost about £320 we were very pleased with it, only bought it last year, so have only used it the once though really pleased.  I like to think when it's raining or snowing, our van is tucked up in it's protective cover.  Not all the covers sold, are endorsed by the manufacturers as being non-detrimental to the van.

I have just cancelled my order with Protec.
I started talking to them just before the NEC caravan show in October - we agreed that I would place my order at the show.
When I arrived at the show, I could not place my order as they did not have their laptop with them, but was assured that delivery would be fine for early December.
I have had to regularly chase them and, now that I have finally got through, they have advised that delivery would be in mid January - 12 weeks after I attempted to place my order - not the 4 weeks quoted.
... And if I have to chase so much to get an order placed, what would I have to do if there were a problem.....
i am VERY miffed!

We have a Protec cover and are really pleased with it - I love the fact that I can get in and out of the van with it on.  Don't forget if you are a member of either of the clubs you can get a 10% discount.  I found their customer service brilliant & we got ours within 3 wks but this was a couple of months before the NEC.

Thanks....
As we are taking delivery of a spanking new Unicorn Valencia in December, I particularly wanted the protective skirt for the first tow. I also wanted the cover for the Valencia and a cover for my soft top car.
As I said to Protec, if I do not have the skirt for my first few tows, why bother at all......
I just updated my post above, as I remembered being told that the covers would be available for early December...

As I said (emails available to prove point), getting hold of them has been difficult!

Many covers are off the shelf and manufatcured to be in stock. Pro tec do made to measure as and when they get an order. Order in summer when demand is low and delivery was about four weeks. Now that folks are winterising the demand is greater so there will inevitably be delays. That's life. Doesn't make the product bad.

The problem is that I attempted to order at the NEC on the 17/10 but could not because they did not have their laptop with them - but they did confirm delivery for early December OK.
After 7 chase up emails, order finally went good on the 5/11.
I have just analysed the communication history and probably should have cancelled weeks ago as I kept on having to chase them....
The joke was the email on the 26/10, asking how I would like to proceed when I still had not had a confirmed price.
My main concern is the skirt - if I do not have it from day one, why would I bother......

Valencia hey, had a look at one (not to buy, just being nosy) very nice little number.

Just had a call from Protec (a different person)...
Looks like we may reach a satisfactory solution.......

I/we liked the Valencia from the time we stepped in - it just ticked all of the boxes and felt like home..
You never know, we may be misguided as we are newbies, but time will tell..........
