After 4 years of happy & trouble free service from our current caravan ( a Bailey Ranger 460-2) we're considering something a bit radical.

Pricipally due to the difficulty associated with parking the van on our drive, which is such a problem it puts me off taking it away, we are considering downsizing to an Eriba. On our last trip to France we saw an English family using one with a pull out sun shade and pup tents for the kids and came to the conclusion that this could be for us. As we have no kids, life would seem to be much easier with a little van that could be towed, parked and used much easier.

Research done so far shows that hot water isn't a standard fitment, and I'm not sure about 12V electrics either, so I'm interested in Eriba owners' views  on what adaptations they've had to make.

Yes, I know I could fit a motor mover to the Bailey, but that adds weight and detracts from the payload. We only use our full awning two weeks a year anyway, so a roll out canopy seems a much better option.

Only stipulation is two single beds and a loo, the rest of it we can adapt to I'm sure, so which models would users recommend?

Incidentally if there's an Eriba owner looking to change to a bigger van.......

Hi, we considered an Eriba when we last upgraded, I think they are lovely vans.

I think you would need to look at the Triton and Troll ranges in order to get a loo - I think the Triton 420GT might be the smallest they do with a loo?

This website is a mine of information: http://www.eriba-amiga.co.uk/

Lots of used ones here: http://www.automotiveleisure.co.uk/

I am sure an Eriba owner will be along shortly to give you some first hand info though.

We arrived at an Eriba Pan-via a VW camper--we had our '88 VW camper for 8 yrs-but I got fed up wiv the constant maintanece & repairs--also we drive to Spain every yr & it was gettting hard to get continental breakdown cover--we considered a VW camper about 3 yrs old but this would have been £23k--far more cost effective was 05reg Berlingo & '88 Eriba bought off Ebay--we used it for our 2 mnth Jul/Aug trip down to France/Spain & all was good-the equipment on modern Eribas is the same as any other caravan but I dont think they have water heaters tho--Eribas do hold their price tho because they dont deteriate like 'normal'caravans-70s ones are still in use---they are built on a steel frame & as long as the bodies arnt damaged they wont get water ingress-

Hi

If considering a new Eriba, have you considered this as an alternative?

I know LobeyDosser on here has one, I think he's away for a few days just now, but if you put an FAO out for him he'll be back shortly!

There's also a review from the CC awards here.

Hope this helps.

why don't you visit us on the eriba forum http://www.eribaforum.co.uk/ we are on our second eriba now. bought our first one last june and bought a slightly bigger one in october. my husband won't tow anything else. the smallest eriba with a toilet is the familia 320. we have the slightly bigger triton 420 similar layout but with longer beds so you can have 2 singles or a huge double. all the layouts are listed on the forum, in the tips and tricks section. look forward to seeing you there.

Big difference between buying that & an Eriba is that the Eriba will still be worth money & very saleable in 10yrs time--but that probabley wont--

HI, We have an Eriba  Duo/T,same as a Familia 320.Wouldnt have anything else. Though, I have to say we have tried other makes, but nothing compares for towing or general handiness, and as another correspondent noted, "They keep their value"
