'we've also got the milenco areo mirror but it does vibrate alot no matter how tight  we do it'

Perhaps its the actual car mirror that vibrates.  The extra length will magnify it a bit.  Ours is rock steady.  Considered the suction type but they got bad reviews due to the quality of glass in the mirror.

Yeah, another vote here for the Milenco Aero mirrors.  We thought we were OK with the strap on kind - there was some vibration but we could usually see if there was something coming up behind us, even if we couldn't quite see what.

We only had one [] so, as we're now going to tour more, I thought we should get the full set - got the Milenco's and the difference is incredible - very stable and an amazing view - no surprises now! [:o)]  There is a little vibration but OH says it's not as much as you get on motor bike mirrors and they seem to manage so we're delighted.  Quick and easy to fit and remove, and come in a handy, light plastic case to store them in.

We have the "suck it and see" ones and they seem the best ones we've tried so far

Nice to see all the thumbs up for our mirrors.

The chap who has vibration may be able to improve this by mounting the mirror on the lower edge of the door mirror instead of the top.

This part of the car door mirror may be more stable and reduce the vibration.

Please note if you are buying towing mirrors, please ensure that they are e marked.

If mirrors are not e marked, they will not meet safety standards and you can be fined up to £1000 and get 3 points on your licence for using them. Since 2005 its law that they must meet safety standards when you use them.(si3165)

Kind regards

We also have the milenco mirrors and think they are great.  We had a problem in that one of the clamps got trodden on and sheered off, we spoke to Milenco who sent us one free of charge by return post, so a big cheer for Milenco products and staffRegards Princess.

In response to the previous post but one, we would not comment on a competitors product, but can categorically state, since the 12th of December 2005 it is legal requirement in the United Kingdom that towing mirrors comply with EU directives and display e marks to prove this.

It should be noted that EU directives are written to reduce death or serious injuries on our roads. Inevitably this works by the EU identifying significant numbers of accidents where people have died, then analysing the cause of the accidents and writing the standard to stop the cause of the accidents that have resulted in deaths.

These directives also must be proven to be valid by: -

The cost to society of implementation. Vs. The cost of the road deaths.

This is before they become directives, which then in time become law.

In other words mirrors like ours with e marks, that do meet the standards, will save lives.

Illegal towing mirrors without e marks, that do not meet safety standards, are without doubt dangerous and can certainly cost lives.

Finally towing blind without towing mirrors on both sides is both extremely dangerous and illegal.

The Association of Chief Police Officers have recently, circulated a memorandum to all chief traffic officers reminding their officers to look out for People towing blind or with illegal towing Mirrors.

Please tow safely.

forgot my mirrors once (was a long day at work etc etc ) and TBH I never missed them, could see just as well with my cars mirrors and also using the rear view camera

now not really knowing the law...but if its just a matter of able to view what is behind you , would a rear view camera not also be included?

You are not allowed to have a tv screen on whilst driving (unless the law has changed recently) and rear view cameras are for reversing.  When you have extended mirrors on they cover more of an area behind the van.
