My friend has just bought a genorator , without an invertor .

we are away this weekend to selkirk rally ,which has no hook up.

im sure i read somewhere that using a genorator without an invertor can cause damage to the zig unit in the van or something like that . can anyone shed any light on this , as im a bit worried about pluging into it to top up the battery , if i need to

yes i read this some time ago,hard to remember but something to do with spikes that can damage circuit boards.

its not the thread i had read , but good info all the same .

i have only been caravanning 18months . this might sound stupid , but what exactly is a zig unit

try searching  the  boards i just  found out what  it  is  from  a link on  thread . there is a  bar top right  with search  on it i looked in equipment forum for info on generators  did not try caravan forum there might  be more info there  ,equipment forum turned up about 8 threads .

God i must have too much  time on my hands  lol
