as we have a dethleff van . these vans are made for all weathers. ours is built to take so much snow on roof before it will damage seals . would have to read my manual for exact what this means. but . we got this van 2005 new, we have used it over the last two winters including in snow . we leave the blow air heating on number 1 all night and have never had any problems . dethleff also has some new vent system and i think this enables you to do this  i don't see the point in having central heating in your van if you cant use it over night..

Dethleff is not alone in having heating that can be used 24/7 its on all UK vans via usually Truma heaters which has  as been stated in this thread external venting of exhaust gases either through the roof flu or through the floor

I agree with you that there is no point in having central heating if you can't use it overnight.

Also no manufacturer would dare in these litigeous times to turn out a van that was a potential death trap

Bailey also advertise a roof that can be seen with several Bailey staff standing on it and outweighing a lot of snow

JohnG. i agree. i dont like the cold and wouldnt stay in a caravan i couldnt use the heating on all night. i have two little ones as well so i like the van warm for them. ours is a truma heater . you only need it on number 1 to keep the van nice and warm through the night. also haveing some heat on through the night stops moisture build up on the windows .

well, the mini oil heater worked well ,infact we had to keep turning it down as too hot !!!!!

really safe , briliant with her asthma and didnt take up much room .

we used the trauma during the evening and turned it off when we went to bed . have now brought the fan heater home as so impressed with the oil filed .

 can recommend mini oil filled heater if anyone in same situation.
