am going away tomorrow (thurs) for a couple of days as my daughter has a pony show in grantham over the weekend. I have brought a second hand generator to power the lighting in our caravan. The generator is a little two stroke which will be ample for what we want it for. Now i know some of you lot are against generators but ours wont be the only one going as on past experience 75% of the peeps were running them. Right heres where i need the help The petrol to oil ratio is 50:1 On a 5 litre can of petrol what would the oil measure be? am i right in thinking it would be 100ml? I know you brainy peeps will help me as i have picked up many a tip off you. i look forward to your replies and thank you
50:1 is 50 mls to every litre of fuel.So in a 5 litre can you will need 250mls of two stroke oil.mmmm I just love the smell of two stroke in the morning.lol

Sorry Walker family, wrong there!
Every litre (or 1000ml) you add 20ml of oil (20 x 50 = 1000).
So for 5 litres you add 100ml (one fiftieth).
Steve.

Normally the lid has a measuring cup in it. I have a little 900w genny i use for a lighting rig in my lock up, and there is a cup in the lid and basically one cup full of 2 stroke added to one full tank is all you need. As stevewils has already said 100ml sounds about right. Remember if you put a little too much in all it will do is smoke a bit more, but don't go mad!
