Dear all who read this

we are looking to purchase anew caravan and have picked our make etc.

We are at the early stage but having not bought a new caravan before we are unsure what should come as standard.

Should items such as a battery, filters, any spares be included and what would be a good deal.

We are looking to add a mover and can we expect to barter this into the price.

Many thanks in advance

Hi Ian, I have bought several new vans and have usually managed to get £2000-£2500 discount.

You're only down the road from us, where are you buying from?

Hi

We changed ours in July and after bartering over the price and part exchange, got step, gas bottle, ehu, microwave, alko secure lock. We kept our battery, waste and water containers etc, and sold other bits on Ebay.

Our dealer wouldn't shift over a discount on the awning so we got one elsewhere.

One bit of advice I would give, is if you are part exchanging your old caravan, take it with you on the day you do the deal, don't accept a PX price without them seeing it. We were talked down £200 on the day over dent as big as a fingernail in the door.

But what do you do, you're excited over a new 'van so you take it on the chin and pay up. That little thing spoiled my "deal". Up until then I was really chuffed, with the price, px everything. Now I feel I have to recover my £200 so it'll go back for every little thing.

HTH

Paul

There is a really good deal on this forum right now for Powertouch movers, they are matching other companies and I think a few members have bought for around £550 - £600 ish.

Very sound advice, I spoke to a chap who was downvalued £350 on his part Ex due to so called damp found on change over.

When we bought ours last year, I got the dealer in the car & brought him here to check our art ex, it's only two minutes from his place, he confirmed the price there & then & we signed the order. How some of these dealers give a stable valuaion without seeing the subject van is beyond me. It's like buying a pig in a bag.
