I hope some of you good people can help me on this .We are going to France for the first time next year and was hoping you could give me a guide as to what you paid for your Dover - Calais crossing this year. The dates would be July 19th - July 31st. Or July 23rd - August 3rd. the times would be about mid morning to lunchtime there and back. I do reralise this would be a rule of thumb as the prices will probably go up next year but this will give us a guidline to work out the cost.

This summer just gone I paid £150 dover-calais with P+O booking via the caravan club in november last year. That was in the summer holidays

We stopped in the Calais area at the end of a French tour a couple of years back - the area seemed to be overrun with homeless immigrants looking for a way into Britain (and a way of nicking your camping equipment).  I suggest taking a (min) 50 mile trip down the coast away from the hustle and bustle of the port town. (Le Touquet is nice / quaint about 45 miles south)
  We found driving over there a darn sight easier than driving over here.

(ps - we used the Caravan Club for the ferry - van went for free)
