The Coachman caravans were on the top of my wish list when we were buying a 2007 van this time last year.

Unfortunately, they got struck off my list because I didn't like the (cheap) ladder slats they used on the under-seat boxes.  I much preferred the sprung beechwood slats with hinged tops that were used in the Swift Group vans.  I see that Bailey have gone over to these now too.

It might sound like a small point - but the comfort of the seats/beds was a priority for me.

Maybe they've changed them for 2008?

I may be wrong but the seats of a Coachman are sprung seats not just foam as with other caravans. We find our seats very comfy and supportive. This was one of the many selling points when we bought our van.

Our is a new 2009 van (it was actually and ex-display model from the NEC show in Oct) and although there were 2 minor problems (the reading light on the bottom bunk was loose and the blind on the roof light was creased where someone had pushed it back too rough) the parts were ordered and delivered really quickly and sorted without any problems, the customer service from both Coachman and the dealer was fantastic!

We love ours to bits and would certainly have another!

Forgot to say, the reason we went for an ex-display was the great price and also the fact we didn't have to wait for it! When my Hubby decides he wants something he usually wants it yesterday!!

we have just bought a new pastiche 470 2 berth L shape kitchen i love it its so pretty and cozy we have been out in it twice, i cant wait for our next trip.

the only problem was we kept our porch and full awning and they are a bit short due to the hight of the pastiche. we can just manage but it is annoying me and if i could part ex my awning i would.

We purchased our ex display 2008 Pastiche 535/4 in Sept'08 after spending several Weeks / Days & Hrs contemplating what to buy we even went to a show and dismissed the Coachman deciding that maybe the Bailey Indianna was for us.

However we were swayed when the Sales person said look at the Coachman and explained a little in depth about the pro's & con's between the Pastiche & Indianna generally stating the Coachman is of better build quality, my wife didn't like the Pastiches initially as she thought the shower / toilet area looked very cheap & plastic but the sale person explained the shower/ toilet area has no seams therefore water leaking is not a problem as it is a moulded unit that's just lifted and fixed into place.

Anyway after comparing the 2 we decided that the Coachman was for us mainly because overall it finish / build was of better quality albeit a heavier caravan.....

Regrets - None as this was the first time I have towed a caravan, however knowing that towing a caravan is straight forward on reflection maybe for the slightly extra room I would have gone for a Twin Axle COACHMAN.

Have just bought a new 2009 Amara and it's the best van we've owned.

The build quality is significantly better than other makes (we've owned both Swift and Bailey) and whilst heavier wouldn't consider anything else now we've had a few weeks in it.

The surveys speak for themselves and Coachman being a small company have excellent reputation for their product.

The only thing I didn't like on the 2009 Amara is the uninspiring external graphics, but decided to live with it as everything else material ticked all the boxes!

I have owned 2 Coachmans. A VIP Twin Axle 1994 spec. Superb amazing van thats still going strong in the South of France. I bought the new equivalent in 2006 a Laser. What a thing! Nightmare! Hated every minute of it! I couldn't wait to sell it! Bits kept falling off it! Build quality was terrible and would not have lasted half as long as my old one. Towed absolutely terribly despite re  arranging things a million times over. On one occassion the bathroom door bolted and would not let anyone in or out. I went back to the dealer to obtain a particular screw to fix the thing myself and he had the nerve to try and charge me 50P! I would also state that the design looked very good until I came to use it! Needless to say hes probably still stood there with his hand out! I was very dispappointed and would never buy a new Coachman.
