Hubby, dogs & I are off to CC site at Wareham Forest on 22 Dec for Xmas & New Year - can't wait...

We already have a dinky 12" xmas tree for putting up inside the van, but can anyone give me some ideas of how they decorate the outside of their vans/Awnings? Does anyone put lights up and if so how should they be attached?

We have some of those lights that look as if it is snow falling (use your imagination)  Also chaser lights with varying colours are quite popular.

We went to Wareham last year during the Christmas break, and was very relaxing. We lit around the outside of our awning wth the small outdoor chaser lights that have the randon setting. They are the 'bright light' led type and look really nice and cosy on in the evenings. They are ideal because they are small and light but bright. Some of the 12v led lights are quite dim when used outside, the bright light version though are just right.

Thanks for sharing your ideas and experiences. I think the bright led's sound great. Not the icicles though, I imagine they would clatter against the van in high winds!

Just got to find a way of attaching lights to the van itself. I suggested duck tape and the hubby said 'No way!'

I think its about six weeks til we go! We are hooked on caravanning in the winter. I think you really appreciate your van, as you get to spend more time inside it than in the summer.

We are going to the fairy lights and bonfire festival at Bashley this weekend and have a couple of ideas for fixing lights to the outside of the van. I expect other people there will also have ideas. I shall let you know which work and which don't

Ooh! Just come back from Focus DIY and in the Xmas decorations dept they are selling a bag of 50 little clear suction cups with little clips on the front. They stick (via suction) to windows and then you clip the light wire to them.

I have risked £1.49 and am going to see if they will stick to the sides of our Avondale Eagle. I think they may just work, as the sides are very smooth & flat. Will report back!
