Ps my website looks like it's disappeared , i hope it comes back soon .
I used sikaflex 512 on my daughters coachman 390/2 it took 2 tubes each side.i was advised to use sikaflex due to the strain on awning rail when its windy.if you go down this line dont remove any excess until its set. it lifts off the body then trim with a knife.
Hi One of the most important jobs when resealing a caravan is cleanliness. Its agood idea after cleaning of all of the old mastic to clean the joint with white spirit. This will enable the new mastic to bed in well
when I re sealed my caravan I used only the mastic on a roll, found it much easier to control when juggling with a long legnth of edging and you can get a second chance of re leying it if you dont press it down, Silkafix 512 does have many good uses though and is very good.
white spirits cleans the caravan and edging well but as said you must clean again with meths.
i used both on my caravan, the mastic down the middle then sikaflex around the edges before fastening it up then when youve fastened it back simply wipe away the excess
Hi Richie, only just seen this post, have a look how I tackled it Click Me.
I used roll mastic in the centre(it gives an instant grab) and seam seal on the edge of the rail(next time I will use Sikaflex 512 caravan as it is an adhesive and sealer)
Cheers,
a good tip i read a few months ago,if your doing the awning rails.buy a good quality masking tape.tape under the rails and on top before removing the rail itself.this stops excess sikaflex glue going onto the body.if using the roll tape type it should not apply.this makes cleaning easy when finished.
