We are just novice caravanners and the advice of more experienced people would be helpful. as you may have noticed from my other posts.
We bought a 1991 Elddis Vogue 1V ( like the shamal) last year. She`s immaculate in every way and has hardly been used. She`s dry as a chip and has everything we would want. My previous experience of caravanning was with my parents touring round Europe as a boy in the 70`s. Gas lights, no electrics and a porta-potti.
She, however, came with a 14ft NR awning which is dark brown/cream and covered in tassles. The porch awning she came with is the same, It was obviously a good quality awning but is now very dated although lke the caravan in lovely condition.
We now want to buy a new awning but the budget wont stretch to some I see on the web that are many £100s.
Searching around our budget will go to either a NR Sterling or a Pyramid Tuscany. We are not going to buy a porch awning at the moment.
Your views would be helpful.
We ony use the caravan in late spring to early autumn.

Hi Tim
We've had both, as well as a Bradcot and a Dorema.
The NR and Pyramid Tuscany (which we currently use) are good serviceable awnings. The material isn't as thick, but it does the job, and looked after should last for years.
We changed caravans last year, and spent more than we anticipated, and like you couldn't justify £600+ on an awning, so we bought a "used once" Tuscany.
The Bradcot and Dorema are better made, but not 100's of ££s worth, especially if like us you only use a full awning occasionally.
I would see what you can find in the price range you have in mind, a good second hand Bradcot/Dorema or a newer NR/Pyramid, I don't think you'll be dissapointed with either.
HTH
Paul

Hi Tim
when we bought our NR Pullman awning we could not have been happier the service we got was brilliant, we went to the factory to visit their showroom as we could not decide on which model we wanted the staff theior were so helpful they even changed the curtains for us as the wife didnt like the ones that came with the awning. we got to see the awnings being made and were very impressed with the quality of the work.
dont let the low cost of NR Awnings fool you, the main reason they can keep the price down is they only sell from two outlets and onme of those is their factory, If you purchase via mail order the awning arrives within three days.
we have now had three good seasons with the awning and it has been subject to force 10 gales off anglesey and torrential rain and never has it leaked ,
you can visit them here
