Its not a hangover, its wine flu!
I know this is an old thread, but thought I would comment seeing that we take our Macaw with us in our motorhome.
Being a large bird this means we couldn't take a full size cage with us so she travels and sleeps in a dog travel cage. We take her out a lot during the day and she sits on her perch outside most of the time. She wears an aviator type of harness so we can fly her also.
We attend motorhome shows as traders and our customers love to see her and she loves to see them. We always make sure that she is not too hot, when outside we watch the sun and move her into the shade when required. When inside we make sure that any windows that are near her cage have thermal blinds covering them when the sun is shining on them.
We always take her with us and wouldnt have it any other way, we named our business after her, Parrotsol, because she attracts people to our stand at shows and we recently noticed that if we google "motorhome parrot" or similar our website comes up, infact that is how we found this thread.
A friend of mine works for a rescue charity. They can/will take up to 8 in an caravan with awning . He looks after the quaker and one of the others is a macaw
We were on a seasonal pitch and our neighbours had 2 parrots and they were disliked by everyone (parrots and owners). They squawked all day everyday and the only relief was when the owner took them for a walk on her shoulder. We got no peace at all as they were on site permanently from the beginning of March until end of October when they were asked to leave but by that time we had found a different site. They didn't only have noisy parrots but also 2 young teenage children who thought the site and charged around on their bikes all day and well into the night, then the mother thought the speed limit was only for others. All in all a very difficult family, but the noisiest was definitely the birds.
