Tried to book in our van for servicing and were told the earliest possible date is June and we have to take it in and fetch back on the same day, Friday. Used to be able to take it in on a Saturday and fetch back the following week. Has anyone else found this?
May I suggest a mobile service engineer. Try yellow pages etc, but they may have to be "registered", of sorts, to cover any guarantee. Have a trawl through the archives on here to help you further.
Jim.
in the caravan magazine this month there is a mobile service man ad for Bucks he could be handy for you but I agree the mobile ones are cheaper, I used to take mine to my dealer where I bought the van from he charged about £175.00 plus vat and any parts used, I had to drive round trip of about 100 miles and kill time waiting for the caravan to be serviced, the mobile guy I use now charges £140.00 including vat, plus parts and he comes to either my storage site or my home address with no hassle.
------------- "PACESETTERS" German Shepherd dog display team, we are out and about raising money for guide dogs.
Guess we're lucky then - phoned on Monday and booked ours in with the dealer we bought it from (still under their warranty as it was a used 'van). Dropping it off Saturday 9th and picking it up a week later, £145 including VAT but plus any extras. Gets the walls washed but we have to pay an extra £30 inc VAT to have the roof done - be worth it though so we can lie in bed clearly seeing the stars through the Heki - it's a little grubby just now!!
They're going to fix a few other bits - a sliding door that doesn't, the catch that came off the storage space under the oven, check the seals around the fridge vent and water heater after we had to replace them (some muppet hit the 'van but that was the only damage - phew!), and they're going to grease the bits of the mover we had fitted (not by them). Apparently no charge for any of that - yippee as pitch fees for the season are due at the end of February!
