This is a generalisation but the club sites I have stayed on seem to be a bit more civilised than some of the private sites, especially the ones that have statics rented out.
We belong to the CC and love it, the sites are always of an excellent standard so you know what you are getting, some people don't like the regimented feel but to be honest I would rather that than people constantly trapsing across my pitch

Can you explain the 'regimented feel' how does this come about are there strict rules you have to follow? or is it just pedgudiced non members viewpoint
I must admit i have tended to think that there was a regimented feel but not backed up by any real evidence or experience. Perhaps slightly influenced by observing rallies with orderly rows of vans and flying of flags. As well a my aversion of being told what to do, Freedom & lack of routine is what appeals to me as long as we show consideration to our fellow campers as we expect of them.(that sounds a bit religeous i hope you know what i mean)
As a new member please advise us of any rules or proceedures we should be aware of that we might not have come across, having only ever stayed on commercial sites over the last 25yrs.
I have only stayed on one Club site, and that was a CC site. A lot of it I am told depends on the warden, but the site I stayed on was very relaxed. As long as you are courteouse and considerate, you will have no problems. If you get roudy and kick footballs against caravans, then you will face the consequences. It's a pity more sites were not like that in my opinion. I have been on sites with site owned vehicles racing around the site at high speeds and neighbours who think my van is a goal post.
Apparantly some jobsworth club site wardens can be a bit awkward, particularly at high season. This is understandable really as they are under a lot of pressure to keep every body happy, not just the majority. This is not always possible and sometimes they have to risk offending the minority for the sake of the majority.
Most wardens are friendly and happy to let the world go by as long as they do not get any complaints.
A CS with a toilet and a shower, if you wish to use them, No charge for awning or for dogs, an electric hook up and in a very nice coastal area. The owner apologised to us at last visit for having to put the price up tp £8.50 a night!!!!!!! I caravan so only ever 5 vans there but he puts up several tenters on top of the vans!!!!!!! I save my annual fee many times over.

The C&CC do have some rules, which will be mentioned in the pack you have received. Things like the 6m rule and no loud noise after 11pm - but the rules are there for safety and so that people can enjoy a decent nights sleep without the noise of partyers until the small hours - all commonsense really. It's what makes staying on one of their sites so enjoyable really.
We have been memebers for at least the last 5 years. We starte out with a tent then a TT and finally a caravan. The C&CC have served us very well, facilities all above standard and well worth the money. However we will not be renewing this year as we are members of the CC too and that will do for this year. I would never say that joining the C&CC is a waste of money, use it to its full potential regardless of what your roof!

Hello Bob.
The rules that the C&CC sites are ran to are in your Big Sites Book pages 30 to 33; most of it is common sense and many sites around the UK use the C&CC as the template for their rule set. The Club was the first in the field don't forget.
I can remember a night at the site at Blackmore under canvas and the Caravan Club's Blackmore site is next door [both are super sites btw] and the noisy tin tenters next door! no consideration for those of us under fabric .
Rallying is an interesting one; locations are not all the same, some are held at full facility sites and you can have access to them too, I have stayed on a temporary holiday site for £7 pun that was attached to a full commercial site that was £27 pun; the only difference was I did not have a hook up so effectively the site's punters were paying £20 a night for electric. I have also stayed in some pretty basic places where own san essen was an understatement! Rallies behind pubs are often very nice. You don't have to be involved or join in coffee morning.
hi bob, we have just joined up with the c+cc (on sunday 3rd feb) we intend useing our membership for our summer holiday. the site we love has been taken over by the c+cc. so if we wernt members we would be paying a £6 per night non member payment. so the 2 weeks will pay the membership fees.
We've just joined and the big book of campsites is great and I quite enjoy the magazine.
The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was that the club campsites in the areas we most like to visit (south west) are in places we don't necessarily want to go - I feel the CC has the edge on those.
Having said that, the Forestry Commission sites look lovely and we have long wanted to try them so that's a bonus this year.
Our insurance for the van is with them and quite reasonable, apart from that we haven't tried any other services.
been with c&cc for two years now done rallys last yr two weeks in padstow top site with pool showers park sea veiws on rally field for 160pounds for 2 adults 2kids how can anyone say u dont get your money back , we used to pay 400+ aweek with elec wont do that again . going way whitsun with ccc for 12.00pound a nite f0r 4 off us .
We are in our 3rd year with the C & CC. We don't do the rallies but we have just returned from a smashing little CS in North Wales. £8 a night for the two of us with electric. Our (19 year old) van is insured with them too.
