We have to get our one year old Elddis serviced by an Explorer group approved company to satisfy the warranty, has anyone experience of any of these south Yorkshire based companies? Coopers Caravan Services at Harworth near Bawtry, South Yorkshire Caravans, or Wandahome at Brough? Recommendation is always better than pot-luck. We bought it at Glossops near Stockport and do not really want to go back there.
Think you may find you will have a job taking you on, usually dealers only look after thier own sales, many are so busy that they don't need the work. But good luck all the same.

Don't blame you not wanting to go back to Glossop. They have got too big for their boots. We have just had ours serviced by a independent father and son. They collected the van, rang with small problems and brought it back within the week. Excellent service. Check in yellow pages for locals. This one wouldn't probably go as far as Doncaster. Good luck.
Hi - I used http://www.caravanchris.co.uk/ other week. Based in Sc**thope so will come across to Doncaster. Mobile service cost £130 (£170) for double axle. NCC approved so Bailey said warranty would be unaffected. Better than pain of taking it back to dealer with service done on your doorstep.
We bought our Elddis Crusader Sirocco from Wanderholme at Brough so you think they would look after us for the aftersales and servicing - wrong. It took them 4 weeks to service my van last year. Apparently some of the workshop staff was off sick, at funerals etc. I rang every week to see if the work had been done but no. In the end I threatened to take the van elsewhere. I also have warranty issues which have still not been done and which was reported a week after we got the van - that was 14 months ago!! You can't just book in and get the job done on the day it was supposed to be done.
The only reason we take the van back is we store the van at Waudbys and they take it off the compound when they are ready to do any jobs, then replace it back on our pitch when done - or not done - that is the question!!!!
Oh dear Elaine, it sounds as if Wandaholme are as rubbish as Glossops when it comes to getting things done. How can I tell if a mobile service engineer such as CaravanChris will be approved by Explorer Group to satisfy the warranty? Do I have to phone an Explorer Group oracle somewhere in Durham, or ask Chris if he holds a particular qualification or certificate?
I think you have to take it to an Explorer Group dealer or someone who holds the certificate to keep up with the warranty work. To be honest I am having thoughts that I might just get the van serviced by someone of my choice and let the warranty lapse. If you read the Warranty document it says if you don't get it serviced after the first year Explorer would give 75% costs of any warranty work, two years 50% and so on. We had a new Bailey and got this serviced yearly. When we sold the van we did not get any better price when trading it in but Wanderholme made more money by selling it on with full service history. It makes you think.
Well, I phoned caravan Chris and have established that they have the qualification needed to maintain the warranty and sign the 'log' book. He is to service the van in March at my house, and I do not have to empty everything out of every locker, just the big stuff so he can have access to pipes etc.(A friend in Manchester has to remove everything). We will see how it goes. Thanks MarkD65 for the suggestion.
