We have just bought a new Dorema Porch awning, this will be put up in March and stay up on a site for the rest of the year. In the instructions it states that you do not need to buy and use the Safe Lock System, but later on suggests for "long periods" and adverse weather conditions they advise using them. What are they and has anyone used them? Are they an alternate way of fixing the frame to the caravan. This will be the first time we have put an awning up, however we have erected many frames tents before in our time.

that's a coincidence John didn't see this post till after I had asked the question above , which awning do you have ? we bought the safe lock system for our full awning and have used it successfully the're not an alternative way of fixing the awning to van they are straps which anchor the awning down in adverse weather

As Winnie says above The safe lock system is just a version of a awning tie down strap for use in adverse weather conditions, It clips on to the awning canopy at each side rather than being a long strap that stretches over the roof of your awning.
Thank you for the reply, think I got my knickers in a bit of a twist and confused the Safe lock with the Quick Lock Pads. Having read the manual again it would appear that you do not use the Quick Lock Pads on a Porch awning. But thanks anyway.
