One of our Scenic Plus awning poles broke last time we were away and apparently poles aren't covered by the warranty (the awning was only 6 months old). The elastic has come away from the top of the pole, we have been told that you can buy a kit to fix it. Has anyone any experience of this? Or any alternative ideas?

No problem re threading a new elastic cord.  You will probably find it in any good camping shop.  Price was about £5 when we last had to do it.  You may find that you need to soak the end in hot water to soften the cap and get it off.  Some kits come with a long needle to thread with.  But we did it with no problem without.  Just make sure you keep hold of the stretched elastic as you thread it.  Easier if you have a helping hand.

Thanks Bob, our local camping shop has a kit so we'll give it a try.

We love ours, Himself can put it up with only a little help from me, takes maybe half an hour? Our 13 year old daughter sleeps in it when the weather's OK, although on really wet nights I'd have her in the van - I wouldn't say it's 100% waterproof in wet conditions. Great for weekends or nights here and there, we use the big awning for longer stays.

Sorry it doesn't work that way.  Contact the dealer that sold the awning and request a replacement.  If they refuse, contact Trading standards as you are entitled to either a replacement or refund.  This is not a wind up but absolutely genuine.

If you are interested in pursuing this way, I will give you all the help in getting a free replacement.
