We`ve seen an Abi Ace Maurauder 420 yr 2000 and a Swift Challenger 440SE yr 1995.  The Abi`s seem to be a cheaper van, we`re wondering whether it`s best to go for a newer cheaper van, or a higher up the range older van.

Any advice would be welcome.

Cheers,

Walshy

Unless of course the newer van has been hammered. Condition is more important especially damp issues. If both have just been used a couple of times a year then the newer one would have more upto date fittings as wizard has said.

Condition is paramount, as said above.  So, without seeing them, it's difficult to help make a judgement.

Overall, I think it would be easier to get any spares and accessories to suit the newer, more basic specification van, than the older luxury one.

Also, older Swifts do have something of a reputation for water ingress and damp around the front windows.  (Soggy Swifts).

Hi Walshy

5 Years younger van would be my choice. Can you check price here?

Thanks everyone.

For some reason the Abi Maurauder isn`t listed on the caravanpriceguide.

I`ll try contacting them.

Cheers.

the one that has the damp meter making no noise is my advice, spec wise what toys does one need, heater, hot water, fridge, 3 burner hob/grill (still say oven is a luxury) thetford loo and a 240 hook up what more does one need

as long as it is solid and that is the hard bit as I saw a lot of quite new vans on my trawl with serious ingress probs

Thanks everyone, the Maurauder had sold, but taking the advice on newer and looking at a couple of Lunars.
It`s a time consuming business!
Cheers,
Walshy
