Hello

I am considering the adrai alrea 502dk, having never owned a caravan before can anyone explain how the hot water system works on this particular van. According to the brochure it has a Truma Therme water heater which is gas/electric.

Does this mean that it will work on either and can be used where no electric hook up is available or does it need both.

Sorry if this is a daft question.

Does the van have an onboard water tank (for the hot water) or does it heat it on demand?

We have an on-board water tank in our Altea 502DK - but the water is heated on demand. It's very effective - hot water comes through very quickly. Ours is a 2005 model - abt further questions please just ask.

We love ours by the way and would only swap it if we had a bigger tow car and could afford to buy an Adria Adora!

We have a 2007 Altea 502DK bought new in September 07.   The water heater onboard only operates on electric.   Dealer advised that we can change it to dual fuel for a couple of hundred quid but don't see the point if your going to use sites with a hook up.   No onboard water tank but the water heater itself holds either 10 or 15 litres (cant remember the exact amount).

Overall good van for the price - just make sure you haggle and get some extras thrown into the bargain, we got a heki rooflight, status 530 aeriel, oven/grill and a five year warranty which covers everything thrown in for free.

The truma ultrastore is 10litres. What you do is you plug in your water butt - you then operate the hot tap which fills up the truma - at first there will be no water until the truma is full (its filled by the fresh cold water in your butt) - when the water runs then it is ready. THEN turn on the heater (gas or elec) and soon hot the water will be ready.

Then when you run the hot tap, the hot water (very hot!) will come out and replaced by the cold water from the butt. Providing you dont empty it (just like at home) it will give you a good supply of hot water - enough for a decent shower providing the butt is full. I have on board fresh water tank but its the same principal.
