We have an Ultima 390 and it has become a dumping ground- not a lovely place to sit. I often see people's awnings set out like a sitting room- how do you do it, mines always full of washing, shoes, wellies and bikes.
When in the season to you start to use your awning as a place to sit/eat? If it's all year round, what do you recommend to heat it?
ours is a dumping ground too !! I'm not sure how you can heat the 390 sucessfully to be honest - ours is very flappy at times and of course does not fit to the side of the van

Awnings can be used all year round as long as they fit the van properly with no gaps at the sides. A group of us spent several evenings in our friends awning over New Year - just had a fan heater to provide heat. Obviously you dress warmer than sitting in the van. Think we managed to seat 12 for meals!
We use our awning all year round. We have one of those glowie three bar heater thingies to heat ours . We have an Awning annex that we put our table and chairs in and use as our dining area, and we try to keep the awning as tidy as possible. BUT there is only me and Mrs Quo, No kiddies .
Gillsid we use our awning for both if it is warm enough to eat in, I have yet to find a heater up to the job in cold weather. As for storage, I use one of those big plastic boxes for shoes and a zip round laundry basket, coats get hung up on an airer and I also have a hanging basket type thing for other bit and pieces.
my awnings not a dumping ground well it has a corner with carboard for putting dirty shoes etc...but the rest of it is like a little sitting room :) we use a fan heater to keep it warm :)
------------- The futures bright the futures podding!!!!
Its not supposed to be a dumping ground but when we have the table, 3 chairs, 3 bikes, all the shoes and the bin bag carrier in it, in an Ultima 260, it sure looks like one.
We have a gas heater plugged into the gas outlet on the side of the caravan. keeps the awning lovely and warm. Also have a 220v 2000w fan heater to distribute the heat around.
we use a full awning and if its warm enough we eat all the time in the awning.use a small £20 electric heater from argos.you need the external fitting for the electric.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
We're 6 in family & we always eat in our awning. We only use the van during summer months though so that might make a difference.
We do take loads of kit though as we cook everything except the odd fish & chip job. as far as heating is concerned, we use electric heaters, they get put on low just after tea & therefore the awning gets nice & warm during the evening.
