This is what I posted on the equipment section recently:

The problem with all battery drills, especially the cheap diy ones, is that the batteries need to be looked after/charged all year round and even then may only last a couple of years, at which point it is usually cheaper to replace the whole drill than just the battery. Also you are stuck if you forget to charge it, or it dies halfway through etc. You might wish to look at the Clarke CIR13 12v impact wrench (£23.48 at Machine Mart) - this has no battery (so very light and compact), it runs off the car/leisure battery with a cigar plug/crocodile clips to connect it. It is designed for removing car wheel nuts so will have plenty of power and will run all day if you keep your engine running.

Two points: I don't know the rpm of this so it may be worth checking it is similar to that of a cordless drill, and it has a half inch drive on the end, not a chuck so you would need a socket extension bar and correct size 17 or 19mm socket (halfords etc).

I have since seen these and similar ones (which include a short extension bar and some 17/19mm sockets) on ebay for even less. These will have enough torque (twisting force) to turn your caravan over! I still just don't know whether the rpm will be ok - someone must have tried one of these?

I am thinking of getting one of these to try, I am quite happy winding our legs down by hand at the moment but we are going to try and do more touring/weekend breaks where we don't have much time and I have this vision that me and the wife will be getting our camper up and down in record time - like an F1 crew doing a pit stop! Also I am looking at the idea of a car scissor jack fixed to the axle with a plate on the bottom to act as a leveler - again quicker and simpler than the ones you can buy that fit round the wheel and screw up/down, I also think these are designed for hard standing and would sink into a grass pitch - I could use the drill/driver to operate this as well.

I recently bought a set of cordless power tools from Aldi, as my Bosch 8v drill/driver wasnt anything like man enough for the job of winding the steadies.

There were several items in a sturdy case, including a powerful drill, torch, driver two batteries and charger, all for £25. Its not a current offer, but you often find things like this hanging around the store a few weeks later, so give them a try.
