Hi, Can anyone help me i have a 4.5 butane gas bottle in front locker of caravan and need a spare, I have a large 15kg bottle which is full and would like to use the gas in it but obvisously it wont fit in the locker. Would i be able to put it next to the caravan and use it while were on campsite or does it have to be in the locker? Not sure for safety reasons! Also if not do you think the gas dealer will swap it for a full 4.5 bottle?

Hi. Have seen many of these bigger bottles on seasonals chained to the van so i dont see areason why not tho would check with each site.

Best bet is do what i did and get a fee empty bottle from maybe freecycle or your local tip and then exchange for a full one without having to pay the deposit.

Calor will swap between the different sizes and you only pay for the gas. Have you thought of going for the 6/7kgs size rather than the 4.5kgs as the larger size should fit in your gas locker.

i sometimes take my 13kg bottle on site if i want to empty it before swapping,

if your hose is long enough , just stick it at the side of van , and conceal it with a windbreak.

I have never had a problem on a CC site and I have never asked anyone about it. It's quite a normal thing to see.
