Keswick and Barnard Castle are two C&CC which have privacy cubicles, I can`t remember any others

There are Sandringham, Delamere, Winchcombe,Blackmore, Kessingland and probably many more. We have been members of the C&CC for almost 40 years and never felt the need to join the CC. We have everything we need from The C&CC.

i personally joined both and for the magazine alone i think they are both worthwhile. i probably only use sites for 20 nights a year so you may think a little extravagant. i am staying at Ravenglas ccc site in may and a private site in South Devon for the summer.

i say just join for the information and regular magazine its got to be worth it.

Hi
For the ten years we had caravans and a small motorhome as well as our tents, we decided to give the C Club a try alongside the C&C Club It only lasted one season. We could not stomach the brook side regimentation with the CC.

Hi misterg
When it was announced that 4X4 were going to be heavily taxed.
The minister said it would not effect the rural trade, farmers vets Ect. They must be enough of caravan owners to go into this and ask for exemption like a farmer, I think most people in the know would definitely state it is safer for all concerned to tow a caravan with a heavy 4X4 than a two wheel drive car, and it is keeping rural business going.

Rex

Really interested in your last post as I believe that if you can prove you have a caravan then you should get a discount of your 4x4 tax, I've got a Kia Sportage which is only a small 4x4 lot less pollution that some of the others but I still get a massive tax.

Do you know who we should try contacting to see if anything could be done?

We don't use club sites any more, even with the age concession we find them too expensive. I would not pay £18 a night, £9.50 for a CS last week which was fine. I believe some CLs and CSs have disabled facilities, we don't need them (yet) thank goodness.

I wonder what you mean by brookside regimentation in the Caravan Club , to snooty perhaps or is it just the inflexibility of the rules and regs i wonder ! !

I joined the C&CC in the early 60s when we were tent campers and the CC in the 70s and are still members today, although we had a five year break between 97 & 02 owing to redundancy. Our family grew up attending w/e meets and rallies over a 20 year period during which we had some super times. As we are now codgers we like the C&CC because they do the codgers discount and I agree that for the most part the CC sites are better, also, in my opinion the CC has much better organization. Both Clubs are guilty of pricing people like us out of the market, we cannot afford the £18.00 plus fees .which are now prevalent during most of the year. The C&CC have a Noddy for its President who a few months ago he had a right go in the mag about 4x4s and in the last mag said we should leave the car at home and go on the trains. Also, he goes around the country handing out medals to sites which plant trees etc., and guess what?... the price goes up, which allows both clubs to increase theirs. You pay your brass and you take your pick. I am now searching for quality 5 van sites.

I am having difficulty towing my caravan with a train. I have been in the CC for a few years now, but wanted to use a C+CC site in the summer so joined as the members discount (or is it non-members suppliment?) made it cheaper to join. So far, I've seen nothing from the C+CC that is any better than the CC and I am unlikely to renew my membership with them. The CC is a far superior organisation and has much more friendly staff and members in my experience. We have made many friends in the CC.

Last year during the summer the C&CC had to cancel my booking due to the severe flooding at Winchcombe site , when i contacted them about reimbursing my deposit i was informed that i could use it for a future booking but there was a time limit and if i did not re-book i would eventually loose my deposit

At least you do not need to pay a deposit with the C.C they take you on trust

Hi we have been C & CC members for 12years now and have other than 5 times used the THS's for wekend meetes/holidays.  We dont agree with paying £15+ pernight, andnow they are charging for awning-extra, pup tent-extra, even the age of the people in the unit (caravan/tent/motorhome).  I never knew a child of 12yrs is classed as an adult? well they are on many sites around Britain.  So much per adult, so much per child, so much per dog, it is stupid.  The most we have paid in 2007 per night cost is £7.00 and that was with electric.  Families nowadays are moving to the camping and caravanning side of holidays due to the cost of living forever increasing and not able to afford much.  We have brought all of our 3 kids up camping, in a tent, then we 'upgraded' it for a folding camper,.....posh we were.....then in 2006 we bought a caravan.  Loved every moment.........now the kids are grown up and we thought we could go away ourself.................NO they come and ruddy visit and sometimes bring the awning bedroom and aribed and sleeping bag and stay.   But we love it.  Fresh air, loooking at all kinds of aninals, wildlife, freinds, bbq, booze and a comfy chair and away you go.  Happy caravanning/camping to all in 2008.  Gary
