Has anybody had any experience of the Quest Romany Porch 400 or 300?
We have bought one (only £90) and wish to use it on our Elddis. It seems a bit flimsy, but saw one fitted on a 'van at Easter on a site in Harrogate. Anyone had a season with one yet? What are they like in the wind? Has anyone left one up for a few weeks? Your comment much appreciated, thanks.
I've got the Base Camp Romany 300 version from ebay (if this is the same sort of thing) and used it for the first time over easter while at wareham forest. It stood up to the strongish winds, rain, sleet and snow (all seasons in one weekend) really well (chap on a pitch behind us had his dome type porch awning collapse). It was very easy to put up and pack away, it also comes with an extra set of poles so that the front can be opened and supported (like some tents) to give extra shade and ventilation.
We have this awning which we purchased cheaply on ebay also! Used it at easter when we went away , As you may recall easter was quite windy and the awning withstood the wind snow and rain without any problems. very lightweight and easy to build
Hi. After replying to the post I was still having a look about. I checked Ebay and Adtrader and there was an advert for a Dorema Polaris awning size 13 with steel poles in green (thats the flashing on the caravan). Anyway, it was about an hours drive away and was still unsold so we went to see it. It was in so good a condition that it looks unused, so we bought it. The people had mistakenly bought the wrong size for their caravan. We were even given pegs and stuff with it so we're dead chuffed as it was a bargain so now we cant wait to get it on the caravan.
We purchased this item recently from ebay. Awning up very quickly, however, we cannot figure out how to put up the roof bars - maybe we are just missing something. Any help would be apreciated.
I bought a Romany XL 300 from Tamworth Camping through e-bay and it was disastrous!
We used it for the first time at the beginning of July. The weld on the centre roof pole came away in my hand the first time we set it up and the second is all rusty. It didn't just leak above the door bit poured in. The external poles bent in at the corners - the first one after only a few days and the second one during the second week. the 'stiffener' in the runner started to come out and during a windy (not stormy) it started to fray. A whole catalogue of problems. We reported this to tamworth, including photos of the mess, on return with no result. I was basically told that it is storm damage and/or abuse and that I should claim my insurance. There was no storm, we had one windy night near the end but the damage was already done and we have had 30 years of tenting experience and know how to put up tents etc.
I am disgusted with the poor quality and the attitude of Niall at Tamworth camping.
