Hi everyone.....Is it poss to install an extra socket in the caravan?

We only have 2 "normal" sockets and they are both at the front end.  It would be nice to have an extra one at the back end of the van, for if the kids want to watch a dvd in bed or other stuff they like to plug in!

We have to have an extension trailing up the floor in middle of the van....and after wrapping my foot in it (AGAIN!) Demanded something should be done before someone..probably me, goes a**se over t*t out the van door!

Can anyone help??

yes it not hard,i did it on ours because we had two only and both in use all the time.needed one for the phone charger.this i placed at the floor level and can be secured by a screw in the face cover.depends on where you want the socket.if its to go full length then i would go outside and fix it to the floor and back in.you can use one of those you have to link up an extension using the same colours.MAKE SURE ALL IS OFF before starting..

Not too difficult at all.Have just installed two sockets at the front of our van,one at the back, two overhead lights, two switches so they can be turned off without getting out of bed and a switched spur for the battery charger when hooked up.For really inexpensive switches sockets and pattresses go to Wilkinsons For 'How to wire'try www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk.I recommend a Vulcan tester which is like a plug with a clear top. You plug it in,switch on ,and 3 neon lights tell you the state of the circuit you have made.Any mistakes or crossed wires will NOT blow out anything. Go for it.

I would also recommend cable protection cover if you are runing the cable under the van.I have just added a double socket to the bedroom of my Elddis 534. Remember you can have as many sockets as you want but your MCB will probably be rated at approx 10 amps so remembering the power law ( Amps = Watts / Volts) you will only be able to run appliances with a total wattage of approx 2300w before you trip the MCB. So check the watts of each appliance before plugging in.

forgot to say do not use hard wire use a soft flex type cable because of the movement on tow.cable protector on the underside is a good idea.
