We recently bought a second hand Abbey 420Gts 2004. We have sited it for part of the season & staying in it often and are finding a few little problems. We have a 6 month warranty covering it from the dealer.

It has two sunroofs. One large in the sitting area and a smaller one over the fixed bed. We have noticed they are not air tight. When it is windy there is a draught. This is only really noticible when the blinds are closed over as they rattle about all night and its driving me crazy. I have tried opening the blinds a little bit to stop the rattling but when the sun comes up there is a beam of light which shines on our heads!!

Also the little hinge that keeps the door together seems to be loose. When the door gets opened it opens in two halves.

Can anyone advise me if the sunroofs are airtight or is the draught there for ventilation? And is it easy to get a hold of a little catch for the door, to fix it ourselves? I dont want to have to take the van back to the dealer only to be told that all that was needed was a catch that would have been cheaper to buy & sort ourselves than waste deisel taking it there.

Many of the Heki rooflights are ventilated.  I bought a mini-Heki for our end washroom and there was a choice of ventilated or not, but I was strongly advised to go for the ventilated one for a bathroom location. It does flap about quite a bit when the blind is pulled in windy weather and it does make a noise, but we don't notice it because it is shut off from the living areas.

Our large Heki over the lounge area is also a bit draughty, so that the blind does waft a bit, but I can't say it makes a noticeable noise - because that would annoy me.

Hopefully, it will be less of a problem for you in the Summer, when we would like to think it will be less windy than lately!

- And on our previous van, we replaced the catch which holds the two door parts together.  we bought the replacement off the shelf from a caravan accessory shop of a Swift dealership and it was a simple screwdriver job to change it.

the heki sunroofs fitted to your van are vented and are required by the british caravan laws to be this way. regarding the black stable door divider catch if you remove it there is a small phillips screw at the back which just requires tightening up and will resolve your problem

We have a Heki sunroof, but ours does not seem to have a draft....no rattling of blinds either...maybe it was sorted by the previous owner.

Just back from a week at our seasonal pitch so sorry for the delay in thanking you all for your advice. I fixed the sunroof by cramming toilet roll all round it at 3.06am last night (yes I seen every minute of the clock) as there were very strong winds. A desperate measure I agree but it was driving me crazy. It worked, though!!!
