We might have to put our new van into storage until we (hopefully) sell the Swift. We have been quoted £20 a week as we hope it will only be for a short time. Is this price typical?
Sounds a lot. We had to put ours in storage last year for 4 months, and it was £25 per month. And only 1 mile from our house, which is on the outskirts of Glasgow.

Are you sure that's not per month? If it is per week then that's dreadfully expensive, unless they charge by the foot and you have a very long caravan. That equals £1,040 per year! The dearest one we were quoted was £440 per year, and I thought that was expensive. We have got a plot on a gold Cassoa site just 5 miles up the road from home, and where the level of security is the bees knees - it's £280 per year, or just over £5 per week, which I think is very reasonable.

Hi Paul - Don't know if this might be too far for you with being in Manchester, the site we are on is in Darwen, but only just out of Bolton on the A666. If you want to check out the details it's www.walshcompanies.co.uk, but take no notice of the storage fees as they are hopelessly out of date! The fees are now £140 for 6 months, plus an initial £40 refundable deposit for the security key. When we went up yesterday he had a plot available, but if that's been taken he would probably put you on the 'overspill' till another plot comes up. If you ring the number on the website you get an answering machine telling you to leave a message or ring his mobile, so if you want to save yourself a phone call the number is 07710 489577 and his name's Brian Walsh. Hope this helps -
Eunice

Right then, directions coming up - along the A666 into Bolton and out again heading for Blackburn. As you leave the outskirts of Bolton there's a bit of countryside and you come to the outskirts of Darwen. On the left just past the fields is the Ocean Palace Chinese restaurant - just a bit further down on the right are two industrial buildings, the first one has a digital clock/thermometer on top. Turn right between those two buildings and the site is just up the hill. You won't be able to get in so if you want to have a look round it's best if you ring him first then he knows you are going, as he'll have to meet you. Hey, you never know, you and I could be neighbours!

Thanks all, yes, it is per week. Rates come down for longer times, but the idea is to put the new one into storage just until we sell our current one and hopefully that won't take long. There is room to keep one at home. Psst, anyone want a nice Swift?
