Have chosen  Bailey pageant 6 bugundy with all the addiditional kit necessary to run away, and am looking for some final advice on full awnings

I previously posted queries on a 3mtr deep Orion but have now been told it is pvc and will not breathe. Instead I have been guided toward an all acrylic Harrington, an Isabella(way out of my league) and lastly a 3mtr deep Bradcot classic + which has acrylic walls with a ten cate coted polyester roof.  (good or bad?)

Really would prefer a 3mtr deep unit for that little extra family space. Does anyone have any comment to make on best type to go for and ones with mixed material such as acrylic walls with poly roof please so I can take my final judgement

PS We always erected our awning on our pathfinder, which cannot be any harder or easier than a caravan awning. (got time down to about 25mins) so fully expect to erect full awning each weekend we are away in our caravan

Have you looked on Ebay for an Isabella?

Try caravan dealers, they have 2nd hand ones sometimes.

My Isabella wont fit my new van, but a friend has told me you can get them altered, cost's around £100.

Well worth it to get a decent awning that fits.

With a 3 metre deep awning the heavier the fabric the better it will cope with wind, hail and heavy rain.
The lighter the worse it will cope.
If you have set your mind on a 3 metre I would advise that your £Xs is better spent on a second hand Isabella Commodore than a new anything. These occasionally appear in the private sale adverts of the Caravan Club mag, but are much less popular than 2.5 metre Ambassadors.
Have you considered a 2.5 with one or even two annexes? The extra volume only as and when you really need it.

Durham, been following your posts and hope this might help you in making your decision re awnings.

We too have a Bailey Pageant Burgundy series 6 (Good choice of van by the way) on which we have a pyramid tuscany 2.4m deep awning  which is made of polyester. At New year when we were away there was anywhere between 12-16 people sitting in the awning of a night time with plenty of room to move. New years day saw 14 people sitting down for a  full sunday lunch!

In the past we have had the likes of bradcot, nr,dwt awnings but this time could not justify the cost hence going for the pyramid in which we are not dissappointed.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

We have a Bradcot albeit a Portico XL Porch awning. We are very pleased with the quality of the acrylic material and and alloy poles. The materials used are the same as for any of the Full Bradcot awnings. We bought the storm straps with it and these worked extremely well over Easter in the strong winds.  Hope this helps with the quality of the Bradcot awnings.

Hi Durhanm

Bet you this is not your final question !!!

With a 3mtr awning you will need to check each site to ensure your awning fits on the pitch.

I am sure others will come onto the forum and agree or shoot me down in flames.

Either way happy holidays

Is right there are some sites which don't except 3 mtr wide awnings I think it's something to do with fire regulations

Ahhh Cathymac you are only tryin' to trip me up lol.  I meant last post on awnings before buying. Not my last ever post!!. I can talk underwater.

Ann H's post was very encouraging to hear of the quantity of mankind that was seated in the Pageant Burgendy 2.4 mtr wide awning and I say that because it is extemely difficult to imagine sizes or rooms unless you are actually in them at the time of use.

I do appreciate the responses advising of possible trouble ahead when I am pegging out a 3mtr awning and some guy is trying to bend my ear over the fact that in his opinion it is too big for his site. He can come and sit inside with me and enjoy a cool ale because as Ann H says there will be plenty room for all lol

I do like the Bradcots, especially the Classic +,  but coupled to the price of the van plus necessary extras and security then it builds up to a tidy sum so I may need to set my sights a little lower unless I can work a better deal than I have at the moment and I must say I am a real tryer when it comes to haggling. Hellsfire  man the kids have got to eat!!

Seriously though I think I will settle for a 2.4mtr deep awning after Ann's comments and see what they will let me away with on a Bradcot classsic 2.4 or Harrington or  a Pyramid

Thanks again guys your input has been invaluable to my decision making
