Hiya

I was wondering if anyone has purchased one of these?  I was thinking of buying one until I saw the size of it.  There is of course the cheaper alternative of the single tub but I don't really know how 'automatic' it is.

Does anyone know?

I have 4 children and after last year's holiday where it was a 10-15 minute walk to the laundrette every hour to put the washing in, go back and put it in the dryer and then go back to collect the washing (every other day) - I have decided to do a bit of washing every day to keep up.  I don't want to fill the caravan with enough clothes for the fortnight so unfortunately although I'm on holiday, I still have to do the washing.  The same way I still have to do cooking and washing up!!!

We have one, purely and simply for the babies clothes and a few bits and bobs, Have to say its very good,

I can't be bothered with spending £3 at the launderette to use the washing machine if I just want to wash a few vests and sleepsuits!

Lots of people have them nowadays, I know SeanP on here has got one to (he recommended it to me) And they also have small children to and use theirs a lot!

We don't take it for weekends/long weekends but definitely do for naything longer, lets face it its no hardship to put a bit of washing on even if you are on holiday! Its just easier if its in your own awning instead of launderette!

For long breaks, we take a Creda spin dryer, and do hand washing only.  The spin dryer is slightly lighter than the twin tub, takes up half the space, and holds 3 times the load.

Also, the spin dryer is a standard domestic model, more robust, and spares are likely to be available over a longer period of time, and be obtained locally.

Bertie.

We have living in our caravan for over two years and we have never ever considered splashing out on a washing machine no matter how small or light it is, however we are considering a table top dishwasher as that is more beneficial to us.

The sites where we go normally have a laundry on site or there is one in the town.  Generally the ones in the town offer a drop off service and for a small charge they do it all or you and all you do is collect it later.  Some even offer a ironing service at a price.

This is actually the one I am thinking of buying now - slightly less bulky!

My mother-in-law bought one, and thinks it's rubbish.  She can only fit in a very small amount of washing, not a 'house with children' size load at all.  It doesn't wash well, moved about all over the places, and currently it's stored in the bottom of her pantry!!   If you're washing small things then stick to hand washing, and if you're thinking of jeans, jumpers, towels, etc., then this one's not up to the job anyway.

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com/product/9620-Twin_Tub_Washing_Machine has details about a portable twin tub washing machine from Towsure. Even has a brief demonstration on YouTube linked on the page.

I have considered purchasing one of these but to be honest, I will continue using on site launderettes. Yes I know it costs money, but for the sake of spendin 1 hour per week whilst on hoilday doing the complete washing and drying..jeans and all! It saves me the time doing "catch up" when I get home.

Hiya Gaz - yep we got one. We love the spin drier - fantastic for swimming pool costumes - almost gets them hand dry. What do people expect for a portable low wattage twi tub?? We're like Gaz, we once went to Ravenglass and queued for ages waiting for washers. Never again - if you are clever and limit the amounts it does a great job indeed. Even if you just use it to spin your clothes dry.
