We collected our caravan, I'm really impressed with how easy it was to tow, especially as I've never towed a caravan or trailer in my life. My little 1.3 Combo pulled it with no problems, and I wasn't forever making gear changes like I thought I might be.

I was also made up, as the towbar fitter had put a buzzer in for the indicator tell tale, but as I'm in the process of fitting front fog lights on my van I put a bulb in the trailer tell tail light in the instrument cluster on the off chance that it might work at the same time as putting a bulb in the tell tale for the front fogs and it worked :-0

We spent the afternoon giving the caravan a good clean, if I said the previous owners had left it a bit grubby then that would be an understatement. The storage place is washing and waxing it for us and we are collecting it tomorrow for our first trip to Kendal.

Well done! Isn't it great collecting a 'van - we brought ours home last Saturday, started cleaning it out on Sunday and now we're buzzing with all the ideas we've got for it. When is your first trip? Ours will be the second May bank holiday, we are booked in at the site we should have gone to at Easter, and we can't wait.

Nice one, now all we need is some sun!

Did you check out the weights of your caravan versus your Combo?  The Coachmans are normally quite heavy and I believe the Combo has a max tow weight of just 1000 kg.

How exciting and congratulations!

My husband has been trying to persuade me to buy a touring caravan for the last 5 years, but as I was opinionated as Jeremy Clarkson about "caravans on the road" and I would be the one towing it, I wasn't easily persuaded.

However in October2007, in the local newspaper classifieds, my hubby noticed a 20 year old caravan for sale, and asked if we could give it a shot. If we didnt get on, then we could sell the caravan on, without having wasted too much money. What did we have to lose?

So in October, we took off with the caravan to the New Forest. Ever since then I have been infected with "The Caravan Bug"  because upon getting home, we rushed out to buy a newer caravan (7 years old)

Been to Bath, Oxford & Cornwall since. Booked up to go away in May Bank holiday, and Yokshire Dales and Moors in August for 2 weeks.

I do hope you have as much enjoyment as us. Each time out is a learning curve, as you meet so many lovely caravanners (is that a word?) who are eager to share tips and offer advice. we just love the freedom.

May you have many happy times ahead with your caravan!
