Hi all. Recently bought an Elddis typhoon gt 1995 and on getting it home we noticed that one of the grab handles is very loose.  It has obvioulsy had a clumsy attempt at a repair as there is all silicone under the bottom screws.  We have checked the van inside thoroughly and there absolutely no signs of damp. What would you suggest we do now? just fix the handle or investigate further?

I would investigate further, at where the handle should be screwed on to!

Looking it up on the net was scaring the life out of me, byt we honestly cannot find any signs of damage or damp and it smells really clean and fresh.

Check inside the front locker and look up.....at the board that forms the front shelf.

You can check with a damp meter (from B&Q or screwfix), and check under the windows for soft and spongy patches inside.  Sometimes they dry out but it is obvious when it is not right.  It is amazing what fabreeze can do so dont trust the clean smell.  There are good ones out there, but be carefull

It may be wise to get an experienced caravanner friend to help look out  for the dreaded damp.

Yes we have done all that, we have even had the carpets up and there is absolutely nothing.

the grab handle is behind the bathroom and that has the original tile effect walls, with not a mark on them.  All walls appear solid, no soft or spongey spots and no smells at all.
