Shauna, this is the second season we have been on our seasonal pitch and we put our awning up last weekend.  Fortunately we have never had anyone come into our awning while we weren't there (at least not to take anything) except once when other seasonal pitchers came to put an awning pole back up after a windy day for us. Most of the pitches on our site are seasonal so I think we are very lucky cos we all look out for each other.

I think out of all the pitches we MIGHT be more 'at risk' cos we are next to the pitches for visiting tourers but again I say we have had no trouble at all, even when we left our garden chairs out all the time before we put up the awning. We do take the precaution of closing the curtains when we come home, just not to advertise the fridge and the beer inside it!!!  And our gas bottle is chained to the caravan. I think you should get to talk to other 'campers' and see what your site is like and then decide for yourselves how you want to play it.

Whatever you decide to do I hope you enjoy yourselves and relax!! Thats the whole idea.

I think that most seasonal pitch areas have people on site all the time, at least the one we're on has.  We've only been on it this year, and at first we got a few odd looks from the "regulars".  Now they've seen us about and know which our van is, they're quite friendly and helpful. So I'm sure that any strangers are watched with careful scrutiny.  Mind you I can't vouch for them watching out at night, so insurance is your best defence I think.
