Hi just a quick question

where do you tie your awning tie down strap ?

from walking round our site over the weekend we are thinking about putting up the awning on our seasonal pitch .

I see there is at least  4 different ways I can see to attatch which way do you do it ?which way is best ?????

Last year we were told to run it along the front but inside the awning between the bars and the tent with the pegs inside the awning.

On our tt we put it over the front  but the strap flaping in the wind frightened the dogs and kept us awake.

I see others are put inside the overhang porch flaps

or have clips which attatch  each side ( we also have this option on our awning but havent used this )

so which way is best ?

would like your opinions

thanks

We always have used the clips, ours to the sewn in clip on either side, I have heard some say if you put one of those right over the awning they tend to rub the canvas

Not thought much about putting them inside though, worth a thought  under the porch front though as we have just bought a new awning not yet used, and am sure there anr't any sewn in clips.

We put our strap over the top of the awing and then put a twist if each one - this stops the straps flapping.  We also use the separate padding available to stop it rubbing the awning.

on holiday rallies i see people with the strap over the front outside with a sponge in between the canvas and strap to stop it rattling in windy conditions ..seems to work too..

Hi, Maisy-Mai

Like others we use to twist the strapping to prevent flapping in the wind. We also used pipe lagging, cut into short pieces to protect the awning. Also we have recently invested in the "Isabella" style storm straps as they fit around the pole joints and goe inside the awning. They come with a quick release mechanism for removal and work very well. They are good if you have young cjhildren or stagger back from the pub also as there is nothing to trip over!!!

here is a link:

poles though as this rprevents anyone bashing thier ankles on the tops of the meaty pegs.

Hope this helps

Andy

I bought a new Pyramid awning and noticed on the blurb that if I used an up and over type awning tie down I would invalidate the warranty!  they will onle be happy if i use the proper Pyramid clip type tie down , ( which I do!)
