I am going to get a mover fitted to my new caravan which has a MTPLM of 1255kgs and I have a few questions please.

Is Powrtouch the best or are there alternatives.

Is it best to have it fitted by the caravan dealer you are buying from (in this case Lowdham Leisureworld) or do Powrtouch fit them. I have been quoted (£1095.00 by lowdham)

I believe there is a latest generation out from Powrtouch called 'Innovation' is this better or more expensive?

I understand movers can be transferred from van to van if you sell is this correct?

Regards

Robin

There are alternatives to Powrtouch but Powrtouch seems to be the most popular at the moment.

I had mine fitted at home by Powrtouch and found it to be cheaper than at the dealers (Lowdham Leisure)

Mine was £1000 for the heavy duty model. A friend has just negotiated £950 and had it fitted at home.

It can be transferred from van to van but I would advise getting one that will cope with a van of 1500 MTPLM in case your next van is heavier.

Hope this helps

look at a few posts on this site and i think someone got one fitted from powrtouch for £800 or if you fancy fitting yourself, think you can get powrtouch ones for £600(2yr warranty) or £700 (5yr warranty). They do a price match and there is currently enduro movers on ebay for less than £600.

I bought an Purple line Enduro from Ebay (wizard recommendation) it cost £588 and my OH fitted it himself (wizard has pictures and instructions) took about 2.5 hrs

It will move a van up to 1800kg

I can really recommend this peice of kit . It's fab. They will fit it at your home if your not handy with these sort of things

I got a Powrtouch for £750 on a price-match. You do have to watch price-matching, though, because they charged me £95 (included in that £750) to up-grade to their 5-year warranty as the Enduro I was using as the price-match only had a 2-year warranty. I still saved about £400 though. That price included fitting.

It's brilliant! I only had it fitted last week so haven't used the caravan yet but hooking up's going to be a piece of cake with the mover!

I got my Powrtouch model 3 on a price match including the 5year guarantee. It was that cheap compared to what i had prevoiusly been quoted, I got the powractuator too for a total of £820 incuding fitting. Only issue i have, its a little slower than other models that i have played with.

Hi

I replaced my Powrtouch with an Enduro 2 weeks ago, as the Model 1 Powrtouch we had wasn't man enough for our 1500Kg Sterling.

I emailed Powrtouch for a price match and got no response, so I bought the Enduro from Ebay for £569

They are both well built and both have comprehensive fitting instructions. The Enduro has the edge for supplied fitting kit, they are both easily fitted in 2 - 3 hours.

They are both similar in operation the Powertouch being a slightly smoother start, but this could be down to me being more used to it.

The only real differences were the price/warranty, and the engagement, the Enduro takes longer to wind on than the spring cam on the Powrtouch.

Having had both, I can't choose one over the other, if Powrtouch had bothered with a reply I'd have gone with a Model 3, only time will tell if the Enduro lasts as long.

Cheers

Paul

Anyone had problems with their Powrtouch? We've had our's fitted about 3 years now, the problems started when it was about 10 months old. We've had an engineer to it around 10 times now and it has all more or less been totally renewed, including new rollers, motors, even the bar underneath which engages both wheels snapped. Yesterday we used it on a site before we hitched up, got home and it's broke again! I can't believe we didn't do any damage to our van moving it in place by hand on our drive! 5 years guarantee is good, but not so good when it regularly doesn't work when you need it, it's been an on-going  hassle organizing a time for the engineer to come! When the 5 year guarantee is over and it stops working - (we don't expect it to last more than a few months after) we won't pay for it to be mended, it will be replaced by another brand.

Ours is new - best accessory ever (so far).  Stops the teeth gnashing and tantrums at the storage compound. Weighs a bit and the wrench can snap back and whack your shins when releasing the rollers but we think it's an ace tool. (Ours is Powrtouch with spiky rollers, activated from either side. Dunno which model this is)

Just got this email off Powrtouch as i am getting one as soon as my new van arrives. Hope it helps.
Might get it fitted somewhere else a bit cheaper hopefully, but we'll see.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mr Payne

Thank you for your recent e-mail enquiring about our Powrtouch Caravan Mover.

We are happy to price match however, please be aware our price match deals are on a like for like basis only. Therefore we will price match the Enduro, though in order for us to make this a like for like price match the following additional cost should apply.

Powrtouch Heavy Duty unit with Powrbar    £569.00
Extra 3 Year Guarantee                            £95.00
(Enduro charge £99.00 for an additional 3 years, bringing the total guarantee period to 5 years)
Delivery                                                   £19.00
Total                                                       £683.00  DIY

Fitting                                                     £125.00
(This is an increase on our standard fitting charge of £60.00, as this charge is subsidised against our full purchase price of mover.

We are looking at 2 - 3 weeks for delivery and then the engineer for your area will contact you and arrange to come and fit your caravan mover.

If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me on 01425 283 293.

Regards
Claire McKernon
