5) Regarding exact weights, from memory, when I checked when back home, the unladen caravan weight was 100-200Kg heavier than the car's kerbweight.

To get this into the correct perspective, the fact that the caravan was nearly 200kg heavier than the kerbweight of the car may not be illegal if the towing capacity of the car was within the manufacturer's guidelines or specs and capable of towing a unit 200 or even 300 kgs heavier than the car.  Maybe stupidity of behalf of the driver but it may not be illegal.  What is the towing parameter of that year Peaugeot 206?

Andy ..i for one could not let them go away without having to remark upon the fact that i thought the outfit was poorly matched..stuff the concequences..they had kids with them ..end of story for me ..

i would voice my concerns for their safety and others on the road..if i got a load of sh*te in my ear and possibly a fist threatened or a  thick lip ..so be it ... but thats me .. a shotokan karate kids instructor..

being a father myself, i certainly would have offered advise... if only for the kids sake.....at whotever cost!

no offence intended.

i have shown concern ...

this was in my last post

well what a conincidence..my hubbie wishes he had said something now :O( or atleast started a convo with them :O( i hope there OK and no one was harmed :O(

my partner didn't know there were kids involved, but the stupidity of this man has put his family at risk!

does this ex puegeot owner wait for everyone to give him advice?

i wish my hubbie had told me i would of been marching straight over, and he even thought of taking a picture, all ifs buts n maybes

i think everyone is concerned but we are far more shocked at the stupidity of this man/woman..

so offence taken lol

it would seem an apology is in order to "HappyCamper2004" for your concern expressed as above in an earlier post.

so for that... I am sorry... please accept my humble apology.

as for CH2004's "another example" post.. i think your taking things a little out of context

although i should add.... and this should apply to anyone with an opinion..

in order to become... judge, jury & executioner

you must first be aware of All the facts !!

Hi Andy

I totally realise that you are feeling bad that you didn't say something but hey !! your are human. You probably came on here to hopefully hear that others would have done the same as you and said nothing. Well I would have probably done the same as you. Your right. It's easy to say on a forum "I would say this and I would do that" but in reality would we !!

Don't beat yourself up about it. You were not the one doing wrong

Take care

I totally agree with cathymac ... Andy is not to blame... he simply made a decision.. & whether right or wrong... it was "his" choice.

who's to say... what is right & what is wrong ?.... no-one

you would have to be in his predicament in order to decide.... surely ?

it's just when some people get on their morale horse...Aaaargh!

it gets right up my nose.

it's people like that , that start wars !!

"Your right. It's easy to say on a forum "I would say this and I would do that" but in reality would we !!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The world is full of armchair heroes who like to proclaim what they would have done.  Imagine the embarassment if someone had gone over and the driver produced documents showing that it was legal to tow this outfit.
