After reading the post about E&L insurance I was wondering if anyone has any feedback for N.F.U. insurance we have had quite a good quote from them £366 .00 new for old for our van valued at £15000.00
Been with NFU for a lot of years now and are happy with them, although having said that never needed to claim, I do know that they are generally well liked by the farming community and get a good mention on farming websites etc.
The other good point with NFU is that it is not a company that has to answer to shareholders in the way that most insurance companies do as it is the customers that always come first, just got me forms in for the annual vote for commitee etc that I believe all folks who use them get. Makes you feel more a part of the comapany as well.
E&L is one I will never ever use again under any circumstances, total conmen!

I'm pleased to see this thread, I've put two vehicles over to the NFu this year & I was thinking about moving the caravan over at renewal time. It'll be interesting to see how their premium compares with Caravan guard who are my current insurers & they beat everyone I asked prices from last year.
We were with NFU for 2 years then got the renewal through for a 3rd year and it has gone up too much.
The Caravanguard quote was hard to beat.
We always check our insurance renewals (house/car/van) every year against other companies now as we have found out in the past to give new customers favourable quotes they seem to make long standing customers pay over the odds, or is it me just thinking that.
we got a quote from caravan guard and quoted us £460 when I said it was too expensive they give another quote of £380 I then asked why two different quotes they would now give me discount why didn't they give me discount in the first place
I had a policy for my caravan with nfu, I took it out on a friday as i was picking up my caravan on saturday but on the sunday we were driven into which damaged rear panel and other driver had no insurance so we had to claim from nfu and I was worried because we hadnt even recieved documents.
However they were very helpful and claim was settled with no hassle at all infact I had to ring them to see if they were going to accept claim as everything seemed to be running too smoothly, so as far as I am concerned I would use them again
I have heard good stories from NFU. The couple I have just bought a caravan from had it insured with NFU and had nothing but good words to say about them.
I have insured it now with Caravan Guard as they came back with the best quote for me.
Best quote alone is not a factor when choosing insurance, the only time you know if an insurance company is good or bad is when the innevitable happen, I am with NFU and had a claim all was settled within 2 weeks when the claim was made.

Hi Yung, that is why I have stayed with them, never had a need to claim but know of several others who have and the longest wait for payout was a month. We know several folks who are in the farming community and they have always said that the NFU is excellent for price and service. They are also available 24/7 via e-mail or phone and your nearest office is always very helpful when it comes to queries etc. Our quote has gone down annually since taking out our policy and we also get a no claims discount which rises each year that we do not have a claim. I believe NFU was one of the first to do this for caravan insurance to bring it in line with their other policy's.
We have been with the NFU for 4 years now and have always been more than happy with them. When our present van was 3 weeks old it was damaged by giant hailstones in the Alps and the NFU sorted out the claim within 2 weeks of us submitting it. I was expecting the premium to go up the following year and it actually went down!!
