Hi again,

So I am going to kick the ar*e out of this forum and use all of your extensive knowledge!

Just upgraded (sorry campers) from a great 9 man tent to a 5 berth caravan and so want to make the most of it.

I would really like to fit a Stereo to play Radio, CD and to be able to plug in an iPod would be an absoulute bonus (17yr old daughter).

2 questions:

1 What do I need?

2 Where do I install it?

The van also comes with a Status TV aeriel so I presume I can have TV but there does not seem to be anywhere natural to put it so am assuming flat screen, but what size? Where from? Are Status aeriels any good as I have heard 2 stories, one saying they are no good the other saying that they are so good that freeview is a breeze.

At least camping was never this difficult!

ill start with your last :p just to be awkward

statuses are not too bad but alot depends on where your camped and signal strengh :p ive got a picture with a 9 inch nail as an ariel in past but i wouldnt expect that on many sites ive stayed at and struggled for a radio reception ;p many caravaners have a seperate ariel on a short pole they attatch to aframe or similar place again depends on location as to what you need

as for where to put your tv in the van noone can answer that for you m8 they all have different lay outs

as for the radio and cd with ipod there are quite a lot of good priced car cd/radios with a front 3.5mm jack plug that you could plug your ipod right into

or you could do as we do and for around 10 pounds buy a signal sender

basicaly we plug ipod into it, the tune car radio to 87.5fm and it recieves whatever we play on the ipod or our mp3 phones or whatever we plug into the sender something like this http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5232-2978-1/1?AID=9479574&PID=1428744&mpre=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FM-Transmitter-Wirelessly-send-audio-to-any-car-stereo_W0QQitemZ250190557493QQihZ015QQcategoryZ1498QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247

that isnt the one we have but does exactly the same job

Thanks, like the idea of a sender and will check that out as I have an old car stereo, Guess you are right about the position for the TV but thought there might be some tips like don't screw to the wall etc!

screwing to the wall :p

again its down to each van and layout

some walls are just wall board which is 1/8th inch ply and no good to hang things from bouncing down the road

other walls are half inch ply virtualy solid :p and would prob be ok using plaster board expanding fixings but all down to individual layout of van

i would stay well away from any outside walls of van

what van is it by the way ?

It's a 1993 Abbey Piper 14/5 and certainly does not have thick walls!
