Hi again just thought that I would update you on our new van. To jog your memories we in January ordered a Provence series 6 then on learning that the series 7 was to be launched we were disgruntled (putting it mildly). We spoke to the dealer Lowdhams of Huddersfield who were at that time ok to wait until more details were released by Bailey for us to make a decision. Bailey had an e mail from us as the main crireria that we wanted was the L shaped front seating. We got no reply from Bailey & after 2 or 3 calls to their "not so helpful" helpline we sat back & waitied for the drip feed of info.

The info came out & we found that the provence was not going to have a L shaped longe. Yipee our mind was made up. We hot tailed it back to Lowdhams & placed our delivery date.......BOY OH BOY then it really went Pete Tong. We were due to pick up on Tuesday 6th May, we had booked this 2 weeks before & stated that "it was the day after the bank holiday" & everything was arranged. Tuesday 29th april we get a call to say that as there is a Bank Holiday on the 5th we cant pick it up. We had mae loads of arrangements, insurance, time off work for me & OH daughter & boyfriend who bought our old champagne etc so I was not at all pleased. The dealer did not give a toss........At one point I was so angry I put the phone down on the guy. He called back & said that we had been cut off & I stated that I had put the phone down on him. He told that he took tht personally & he suggested that I learn to count to 10...........on this call I got to 3!!!

When we eventually did pick up the van on the 7th (with a shop voucher for £150 as I had eventually spoke to the manager) the only thing they were concerned with was our payment details. A great advert not to use them. We paid & went no euphoria or jumping for joy with this purchase.

The caravan is fantastic everything that we wanted & more could not be happier with it. But the sales side we feel truely let down. We feel like we did Lowdhams a favour by giving them our cash for the van. I hope that I can put this to bed now that I have passed on my information. But we were looking around the van for a couple of days hoping that it was OK & that we would not have to take it back to the dealer. We have now found a mobile Bailey approved guy that will come to our seaonal pitch for any warrenty or servicing that we need. Lowdhams will not get another penny of ours or indeed any of my families (currently 4 caravanners).

Hi Faulkner,

I remember your previous post well, as we were in a similar situation, having also ordered a new Series 6 only to hear about the Series 7.

Really glad you are pleased with your new van, shame about the dealer.

It does leave you with a bad feeling if you don't feel the dealer has treated you well. We are very lucky with our dealer who has always been brilliant.

We picked up our new Series 6 Loire on the 2nd May and are also really pleased with it. I have to say I'm very glad we got the Series 6 van.

Enjoy your van and the fact that you won't have to go back to the dealer again.

Joty

Thank Joty, glad you like your series 6 also. Got the brochure through for the S7 and can't say if I like it or not. Like you we prefer the S6. It appears from the mags that we get that Bailey are looking to reduce the number of componants in each van like doors, cushion sizes & that is why they are "standardising" each van. I can see the business need for this but not sure any cost saving will be passed on to Joe Bloggs the customer..............second thoughts I know that they won't!!!!!

Hi Faulkner1066

I'm so sorry about your experience......all I can say is that if you speak with Ian Brown at Lowdhams Nottingham he would most definatley put things right.

We felt the very same after our purchase, and after buying 3 brandnew vans from them in 12 months, and getting the same treatment each time (i know glutons for punishment) we were NEVER EVER going back again.

However our faith was definatley restored when we changed to the other branch.  So VERY differrent in their approach and the customer is def a TOP priorority.

I am absolutley sure he would be interested about how you have been treated.  Please give him a call and let me know how you get on.

Dawn :)

Sounds like the huddersfield branch!!!! to say i'm dissapointed is an understatement.

We bought a new Swift Charisma in October, we had a few issues, anyway van was booked in for warranty work, the week before it was due in both brackets snapped of the heki rooflight, luckily someone flashed us on the A1!! rang Lowdhams to be told no problem we have brackets in stock.

Van went in, got a call on the Friday to say no work carried out because to busy can they keep it for another week, anyway week later turned up to pick van up, rooflight was still taped down and only a couple of jobs completed, they was going to let me go with the heki taped down! i kicked up a stink so they took a part of another van, then they told me there was a damp problem around the wheel arch so parts had to be ordered  from swift, anyway not heard anything for 6 weeks so rang today to be told no notification number from swift, with this i hit the roof and will have to wait until tomorrow to find out what is going on!!!

Sorry for hijacking this thread but i think the huddersfield branch are taking the mickey out of us, we are thinking of swapping van for a new series 7 Bailey and will not be using Lowdhams again!!!!

We've had a look at the series 7 Pageant & it's lovely. We have a super dealer close to us & look forward to changing our series 5 Provence very soon, anyone interested in a 2006 Provence series 5 in spotless condition.

Hello Faulkner 1066

What do you think of the Series 7 Pageant now it's out on the forecourts? we were wondering if you were pleased you decided against the series 7 and retained your order for the series 6 in the end.

We've been looking at the series 7 Provence today (twice), we got a quote from the dealer for part ex on our series 5 but, as ours has the axle upgrade so it can have the Al-Ko lock, I want a bit more for it than they've offered. The Al-Ko lock receiver, Lock & new Alloy wheels so the lock would fit cost me £610 Bailey supplied & dealer fitted, I was shocked to find the trade in price makes no allowance for that. There can't be many series 5s out there with this lock on them.

You were lucky you found out about the loss of the L shaped lounge on the series 7 while you could still get a series 6. The new Pageant range seems to be selling well though, our dealer can't deliver one until mid august if ordered today.

I hope you enjoy your new van.
