i use both types,most of the time for a side level the blocks are enough.its one i made myself from half ince ply 6 inch wide and 5 foot long.it has 4 stages of hight.for more than that the side lift wheel jack would be used.the caravan needs to be level for correct operation of the fridge.

Yep same here , the steel one is a bit heavy , think i'd go for the alloy one if there is a next time , does save lots of arguing over when the van was level , my oh did say stop once after i'd driven over the top of the wedge and stuffed it into the wheel arch , i was not a happy bunny .

thanks for yor help its nice to see i am not the only one whos o/h as blond moments first trip out asked her to watch me reverse  stands at the back of the van with curtains drawn not a lot of good

Bought mine off ebay , far as i can remember it was £46 new .

At most sites you will be ok with one , but you may get the odd site where you need to use two , one on top the other to get your caravan level . So i would buy 2 , make sure they can lock one on top the other .
I also made up two 8" x 8" by 6" high plywood boxes , to place under the caravan steadys that couldn't reach the ground on really unlevel sites .
